Nothing will ever be "one shoe fits it all", so of course school doesnt suit everyone. But i feel like people who dont like school just have this issue of associating themselves with their grades. And honestly, i completely get it. This isnt a new thing for people, parents, teachers etc... to call children dumb for not having good grades. To the point its literally deep stuck INTO the system.
This is my personal view; school is just here to introduce us to as much possible for us to become who we want to be, while also allowing us to become functional people. That's why we have stuff from sports to maths of physics and chemistry, and grades are just here to rate one's understanding with whatever the topic is. It doesn't mean that you're bad, it doesn't mean you're worthless. That system can be too easily messed up and that's why you shouldn't rely on it whatsoever. A bad night of sleep is enough to mess it up, test anxiety can mess it up, conditions, equipment, anything. Plus, teaching methods arent always adapted to us, and that can also help determine our best way to work.
Where i live, the grades are mostly out of 20, and teachers have different grading system. But one thing they have in common is that the level expected to achieve is 10. So 50% in general (cus grades arent always out of 20). And everyone has different expectations, everyone has their own struggle
For example, i have an average of 60% in history. Its not my best, not my worst either, but my family has high expectations, but i know its because the whole classes are just listening to my teacher speaking, and it can quickly get exhausting, so i dont always listen, sometimes i chat with friends, sometimes i get antsy, i cant memorize dates. But guess what, even if i have the lowest history average of my whole friend group, im the only one making use of what i memorized, even if i have to double check later on. And i can just teach myself better on my own. That doesn't make me dumb, nor smart, its just a topic i enjoy, even if i have the lowest grades on my tests.
The problem is that teachers have really lost the plot when it comes to that and will really just make students life hell or will straight up target some of them, and thats messed up :( Im too tired to develop further so i think im done here lol

Yeah, this is honestly spot on. The whole ‘grades define you’ thing is so messed up. People forget that not everyone learns the same way, and that’s totally fine. School’s supposed to help us figure out what we like and how we work, not just cram info into our heads. I totally get what you mean about teachers not always getting it, sometimes it feels like they forget we’re all different. And yeah, your history point is a perfect example of how grades don't always tell the full story. Keep doing you
