School has been kinda bad lately, like theres all this stuff i havent done and im waiting for it to explode my grades...and im not doing bad by any means, my lowest i've ever gotten is a B+ (87%) and ive only had 1 or 2 every quarter i've gotten one. For reference, i've been on honor roll every quarter for like 3 years straight (gpa above 3.5). But having good grades and a job at the same time makes me feel like those are the only things i can have, but i want to have time for art, reading and musical projects not to mention seeing my friends!!....I just was wondering if anyone knew how to like, disconnect from school/homework and have a life i guess? How to balance it with other things? How do you romanticize school so it doesnt feel like you're dying every day is basically what im asking.
Advice on school stuff?

my advice is to do consistent revision, i start revising as soon as we start to stay ahead. keeping track of the syllabus also helps, i know in australia for the senior grades we are given the syllabus or we can seek it out online :)
i usually before assessment time starts I don't revise on weekends, that way I have the weekends for leisure and time with friends :D My school has a program called "homework club" where twice a week, tuesday and thursday, you can stay in the library after school for an hour and get help with homework or assessment. I've found that has helped me significantly, not only because you get the help of your teachers or gain perspective talking to new teachers, I find having that time set to study helps me to get in the flow state. If you dont have that, set a routine for it and make sure you have a desk!!!!!!!!!!!! i didnt for a long time and it made shit so much harder. i also go even a step further and have two browsers set up - one for school and one for leisure that way when i open my school browser i know right away its time to work :)
i also found eating fruit and finding ways of getting natural sugars helps me to stay in the flow state :D aswell as having cold water nearby, so im less likely to get up and get distracted
i do have to note though that I love school, I love my subjects and I love learning so its objectively easier for me to lock the freak in. I also do a lot of my (meaningful) socializing outside of school, so its easier for me not to get distracted during school and complete homework during spare school hours as another comment suggested doing
finding balance is really tricky, but having routine has helped me a lot!

idk if this'll be very helpful but something i've been doing is trying to use up any sort of spare time i have at school to finish homework and stuff. in fact i try to finish most of my work in the classes it's assigned in as soon as i can. this has been a lifesaver for me, especially for classes like calculus and physics where i'm assigned a daily load of work. and finishing it up in class relieves me of that burden and lets me focus my time at home at chiseling away at larger assignments. something to note though is that this is only possible for me bc i have super chill teachers that give out a bunch of time in class to finish up our work.
however something else i've been doing is setting up my assignments so that i can sort of do them whenever i like. i have a lot of school work set up so i can access pdfs or the assignment i have on google docs on my phone. sometimes when i'm waiting to get picked up after school, and i have that 10-15 minute waiting period, sometimes i'll just pull out my phone and finish up my work. this is a much more insane method and does require that your school is like mine and assigns a lot stuff online, but it's great for when you want to utlilize all your time.
Thank you this was really helpful, i have been trying to do all the work in my class but teachers never give me time unfortunately (especially in math which is my hardest class) so i end up with a lot of homework. I think maybe i'll be able to do it on the bus though? My friend has a hotspot so maybe it will be a little less overwhleming if i can get some things done on the 25 minute bus ride.

yes!! you can finish a lot more work than you think you can in those 25 minutes, and even if you don't, just getting even some of it done will make you feel a lot better.
something that also helps with tackling a bunch of work is having a planner. writing down everything you have to do and having it all out in plain sight to see makes the workload seem a lot less daunting. i find that sometimes just the thought of having so many things to do kind of makes your brain freeze and puts it in executive dysfunction. so easing your brain by organizing your workload definitely helps with keeping you sane which in turn makes you a lot more productive.

the best way to balance is to go unbalanced
