A Letter to my Bloodied Darling! (Poem) 🩸

Hello! I don't usually write poetry, but a few months back I wrote this, and I thought it'd be fun to share it with you all. I am not very good at writing poems, and it's not really what I'm passionate about, but this was very fun to write! Sometimes it feels nice to do things you don't normally do often, even if you suck at it. Like, this isn't very good, but the process of writing it was a good exercise and pretty silly.

A Letter to my Bloodied Darling

To my dearest beloved, my one true friend

For you, and only you, an apology I extend

I was ill until I met you

And ill now as I betray you

If I were no sinner, I’d pray that you know how much I love you

You sought sanctuary within my walls

An escape from the vultures and their wicked calls

I could’ve sworn I heard the heart of my mansion thump

If I had blood, your smile would’ve brought up a blush

Since that day, you’ve considered me a friend

I hope you can forgive me as I bring that to an end

I remember how we always used to laugh and dance

And how we admired the bats as they flapped in a trance

As I stalk towards your quarters, I look back at that 

If your blood weren’t so alluring, your neck I’d never peck at

Yet the ambrosia which runs its way through your veins

Calls for me to drain it from your bodily domain

Despite the blood-sucking massacre that's bound to occur 

I hope you notice the loving look I give as your sight begins to blur
