i think that life becomes a lot more meaningful when you do the things you love, so to anyone reading this, i urge you to try new things :> who knows? maybe you'll find something you enjoy and add a little more whimsy to your life (,,>ヮ<,,)!
if you're feeling a little lost on hobbies to try out, here's a list of the ones i've really been enjoying!!
˖.𖥔 ݁ ˖ ⊹ ࣪ ˖ HOBBIES ˖.𖥔 ݁ ˖ ⊹ ࣪ ˖
--> Creative:
1. Crocheting -ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
i started learning how to crochet during quarantine, and wowwww was it a journey.. ( ˵ •̀ □ •́ ˵ ) the night i got all the materials i needed, I remember pulling up yt tutorials and then tearing up out of frustration. thankfully, my dad was there to help out, and he even learned how to crochet to teach me ( ๑ ˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و ♡
that story makes it sound like crochet is hard to get into, but trust me, you'll get the hang of it after a while!! crafty hobbies like these often take time before you can make things that you're satisfied with, so don't worry if the start is rough.
i recommend narrowing down what you want to create with crochet, and then looking through yt! there's plushies, clothing, hats, home decor, etc! honestly the possibilities for crochet is endless :> you could always explore different types of crochet and see what you're interested in, too !! in the future, i'm planning on writing another blog entry where i'll go more into depth with crochet :D
this really is one of my favorite hobbies. through crochet, i've created things from cute plushies and shoujo inspired clothing to freeform crochet and colorwork crochet! it's a relaxing hobby that i can do while watching movies, tv series, animes, or while even talking to friends. lots of time, whenever i use a project i've made, i think back to the times while i was making it--which i think is super fun!!!
2. Drawing/Art ᝰ🖌
art is such a good way to express yourself. expressing yourself doesn't have to mean that every piece you make is leonardo davinci reincarnated-- it can literally just be you doodling an eye that'll turn into something else. i really really love drawing!! there's something about creating anything, that makes me feel accomplished--even if it is just a silly doodle of a cat.
also also! through art, you could create so much different worlds :o
3. Documenting life (photography, taking videos, vlogging, journaling) [ ◉¯] ✧˖°
taking photos, videos, and making hand-written letters are my version of a time machine. do you ever feel like wanting to experience something again? i find it very beautiful how a photo is just time frozen, how videos capture smiles and laughter in a specific moment of time, how words on a piece of paper symbolize and represent a past version of me.
--> Physical:
1. Working out ( ◡̀_◡́)ᕤ
the energy/mood boosts i get after a good workout??? omg indescribable..
this hobby honestly feels hard most of the time for me, but doing it heals something in me. i'd say this is more than just a physical hobby, but a mental one too! it takes discipline to stay consistent, but it's all worth it. you just have to trust yourself, you just have to build trust with yourself.
to anyone wanting to start working out, i recommend going at a slow-pace instead of attempting to commit to doing lots of exercise 7x a week (shade to my past self HAHA)!! try fullbody workouts, or what you're targeting, that are only about 5-15 minutes at the start. as you grow more confidence, explore different workouts and have fun :D
--> Mental/Knowledge:
1. Language learning ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚✎
languages are so awesome sauce-- like wdym there's a word that describes when there's too much books left to read, but not enough time to read them all??? also, learning a language opens so much doors! imagine, there's someone out there in the world that you'd TOTALLY be close friends with, but you just don't speak the same language yet. there's whole communities of people to know and love and care!
currently, i'm learning german and hungarian (but at very veryyy basic levels!!), and i've been having the time of my life enjoying movies, music, and interacting with people in those languages (,,>ヮ<,,)!
2. Reading 🕮⋆. 𐙚 ˚
BOOKS ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGGGGG!!!! there's so much i've learnt from experiencing the lives of different characters, or reading scenes unfold. so many good books exist, but there's just not enough time. from empathy, love, and friendship to touching stories of memoirs, psychology, and classics that comment on society, the government, and most importantly--human relations.
there's so much more to yap about with books. i'm overwhelmed with love for them, i can't find the proper words.
3. Research✎ᝰ.🗒 ˎˊ˗
sometimes, i forget that i literally have all the information in the world available in my hands. to think that i could find out more about dinosaurs, plants, video games, fashion, and more is just craaaazyyyy!! research doesn't have to be anything fancy. it just has to be something you're interested in! it's not like it's just searching things on the internet, it can also be watching videos on yt, or looking at documentaries.
learning more about topics that interests you really feeds the soul.
˖.𖥔 ݁ ˖ ⊹ ࣪ ˖ END OF LIST ˖.𖥔 ݁ ˖ ⊹ ࣪ ˖
sooooo, in conclusion!!!! hobbies = happiness
choose happiness, you deserve it--even when you don't feel like it.
thank you so much for reading my first blog entryꉂ(˵˃ ᗜ ˂˵) hopefully, i'll make more to come!
- love, danie

MEGURI
journaling is really nice
i reccomend one of those scrap books? i dont remember what they’re called, but you collect things from the ground or things that catch your interest and paste them on a spare notebook, writing about the five senses of it and when you wake up everyday, you view it as encouragement to keep going because of the beauty in life
normally, i also like to add 10 things that made me happy every night
