What should music talk about more?

What are song themes/topics that we need more of? Like, what do you feel is missing in music these days??

I’d love to hear anyone’s thoughts :)

I think more storytelling about seemingly mundane things that are very revealing about a certain character, or a culture and a time, like a lot of what the kinks did, for example songs like Autumn Almanac, David Watts, etc, just more songs about other people and looking at things from an outside perspective, I feel like at the moment everything's more introspective and I think introspective lyrics are good but it's just too much of the same thing, like, how many times is it possible to write a good lyric about yourself? There's just not enough content there, when there are 8 billion people to write about.

I'd love to see a wider range of topics!
I think music should reflect the human experience, but a lot of times it feels like each genre gets stuck in their own themes
Like metal music stereotypically being angry or emo music being emo

I'd love to see more music talk about uncertainty and internal conflict, one band that nailed this recently was AJR with "What no one's thinking" discussing the complex feelings of approaching someone you've kind of fallen out of love with and the avoidance of it really felt genuine.

Another type of music I'd like to see more of is the first person story telling that Sleep token did with Damocles.
(Definitely a more fun option than my first lol)
I've seen a lot of story telling that ive liked, like Sabaton but most of theirs feel like a historical telling not a play.

Personally, I feel like most music today is about relationships and sex. Although those songs are amazing and I love so many songs like that I feel like I can't relate. An example is if there is a breakup song I normally change the meaning and make it relate to a family relationship I have instead of a romantic one. I wish there were more songs about familial struggles/dynamics and mental health issues. More songs that don't mention any type of romantic relationship. That's just me though :).
