Witch hunts over minor things

I really don't like when people start witch hunts or harassment campaigns over minor things, like shipping. I think it's really stupid. To me, attacking someone for a ship or interest is if i attacked someone for eating carrots as a snack when i don't eat carrots as a snack. It sounds pretty fucking stupid, right? So why would you attack someone over a minor clash of interest?

I understand if it's harmful, because i believe fiction affects reality. I cannot tell how many times i've seen people turn the same as a problematic figure, ship, interest, n so on. But if it's some shit like Deltarune or TADC.. who even cares?
