plane poems

heres a poem i wrote recently. i've been keeping an archive for the past two or three years, i'm thinking about going and through it and posting a few of the ones i can tolerate.

Concorde

A sonic boom propels you forward

The only craft that had the gall

I didn’t see the debris

I’m only metal, after all.

The future of aviation

The Atlantic in three hours

It’s scary, the rush that you feel,

When you’re faced with that much power

Giving up is suicide

Can’t ever stop the climb

Even if there’s fire inside

Even if there’s no time

And as the ground impaled me

I couldn’t help but wonder

In the wake of my peeling sheets of skin

In the wake of my deadly blunder

I’m ready to let go now

Future cutting from the past

New York seems far away, for once.

But tell me,

Wasn’t I fast?

You asked me to fly, that’s what I did

As far as my wings would take me

I hadn’t thought,

I just hadn’t thought, it would be 200 feet
