I currently have 13 piercings, which include my two nostril piercings, 6g septum, 6 lobe piercings, my daith, my tragus, and my two flats. I've healed a total of 10 piercings with the exception of my other nostril and 2 flats, since those are more recent. Healing piercings doesn't have to be difficult with my tips. I won't talk about other healing, other piercings, other than the ones I have currently have since those are the easiest to talk about.
Nostril piercings: Healing nostril piercings from my experience are just an annoying hassle. My first nostril piercing used to get bumps here and there for several months on and off until they finally settled down. My other nostril piercing I got so far, hasn't had any bumps at all. The best way to heal nostrils is to have studs instead of hoops in a fresh nostril, since hoops will irritate the piercing site and it's so much easier to heal nostrils with studs. The next thing you're going to need to do is to use a piercing spray like Neil Med and spray it on the entrance and exit holes of the piercing site. DO NOT get makeup, towels or anything else on it. I personally refrained my putting sweaters on my fresh nostril since my first nostril piercing I had my sweater would get caught on it, causing the area to be irritated so for clothing I stick to cardigans, hoodies, and being careful with how I put them on. Another good way to clean fresh piercings is to run them in water; water is also another good cleaning agent when it comes to piercings. After 4-8 weeks, make sure you take your nostril piercing in for a downsize so they heal properly.
Septum: Even though my septum is stretched, the same instructions will apply to any septum piercing regardless of gauge. Septums are the easiest piercings to clean and they never get bumps. The best way to clean them is to take your piercing spray and spray it on both nostrils for several months.
Daith: My daith healed like a dream and never got any bumps. I'm not sure how that happened since I heard horror stories with daiths but I've been very lucky I had a good experience with this one. No, daiths don't cure migraines, that's a myth! So, one thing to keep in mind with daiths is that since they're in the inner part of the ear you won't be able to where headphones for awhile so make sure to avoid headphones for several months. For me I was able to wear earbuds at the 7-month mark, and by the 8-month the piercing healed for me. For others it might take longer. Since daiths are tucked in the ear you can sleep on the side you got it on and have them free from clothing and other things that typically will snag other kinds of piercings. I recommend cleaning by taking piercing spray and spraying the entrance and exit holes and also cleaning them with warm water whenever you take a shower. Another thing about daith piercings is that since they're hard to see I would recommend taking a mirror and checking your piercing for bumps. No downsizing is required for this piercing.
Tragus: Another piercing that never got any bumps. I recommend for this piercing to treat the tragus like the daith in a sense that you avoid wearing earbuds until it's healed. Make sure, you don't sleep on the piercing, and clean the entrance and exit holes with piercing spray. Be careful not to get the product and your hair snagged on it and use water to clean it also by running your ears under warm running water. Make sure you go in for the downsize for this piercing just like with your nostril.
Flats: This piercing like the daith is very hard to see, so I recommend using a mirror or getting a friend or family to check for bumps in the back. Unlike the other piercings mentioned, this one doesn't impact your ability to wear earbuds but if you are someone who wears headphones, I suggest holding off until it's healed. Also, avoid wearing any sort of hats with this piercing or earmuffs until the piercing is healed. As for as cleaning goes, make sure you that spray the piercing spray on the entrance and exit holesĀ
