a few facts about my song "Caldera" — thought it'd be fun to share the quirks/story it has ۫。٠ 𓃭
about it ੭ֶ
it’s an experimental/ambient/pop-ish song, not everyone's taste
at the most, this song took up 20 gb space….
the whole song started with me already knowing i wanted to name it Caldera
it was built around 1 sample i'd made n found years later
i wanted to use rumbling earthquake sounds at the end to symbolize the collapse of something
a lot of hidden, layered sounds; one of my favorite parts of producing, it adds so much but you would never know unless if you were there for the whole process (no subliminal messages i promise lol)
I struggled 6 months + with finding a vocal melody i liked...
why it’s named Caldera ੭ֶ
the meaning of it is “cauldron”, it’s a natural phenomenon that occurs with volcanos; when the magma chambers empty too fast, and the ground above is not being held up by anything, it makes the ground collapse in on itself which creates a “cauldron” as these empty holes often become lakes (deepest lake in the US is a caldera).
it leaves room for a lot of metaphors about pressure and something big and important hidden under the surface, holding everything up until it doesn’t.
thank u sm for reading this much <3 <3
tiktok <- i made a tiktok account which is super nerve wracking, but i'm gonna push myself into it regardless
