Stop trying to fit in

I don’t want to be too rude talking about this but ever since I’ve noticed its started to bother me. I see a lot of people interested in subcultures purely for the looks and how they think others will perceive them by fitting into those molds. “How can I be more emo?” “Any advice for being more punk?” “I wanna be goth but I don’t know how,” the worst offenders are people that claim to want to join a subculture but don’t even LIKE the music! I don’t see anything wrong with wanting to be a part of a community but I’ve noticed that people seem more interested in looking “alternative” than the actual music and ideals that come with being in a community. Why are you idiots so obsessed with trying to be something you’re not? I just don’t understand why so many people insist on labeling themselves as something that they have no knowledge of (outside of depictions of it in any media that they consume). So many people claim to be from a subculture only for the aesthetics yet they have no intention to support the artists and community around them. 

I hope that people stop thinking it’s cool to dress like this soon. I’ve always been used to getting weird looks in public but now people want to dress like a diluted soulless combination of every alternative subculture AND I still get harassed outside. 

I don’t wanna talk about this now because I’ll go on a whole other rant but it also annoys me when people refuse to put any effort into finding shows or events yet complain about how boring everyone around them is. If you don’t fucking go outside and make excuses for yourself all the time then obviously you aren’t gonna meet anyone.
