Β β°Β Β Hello, fellow victims of our dystopian novel prologue!Β β°
Β Β Ok so for context I go to a magnet high school and one of the magnets (specific courses?) is Math, Science, Technology (MST) and I have come to the realization that there is a specific type of person within this magnet (NOT EVERYONE IN MST JUST LIKE HALF OF THEM don't come at me guys) that really represents what we have come to as a society...Β
Β Β I'm talking about the Spyder-brand wearing, unnecessarily high tech Lenovo laptop having, barely-showering flavor of MST kid, like the one I overheard this morning who said "...Yeah, but it's only 5 questions, you can just AI it."
Β Β Only 5 questions.
Β Β We were doing a 15-question worksheet at the time, and he had his laptop open when we were specifically instructed to not use them?? Because the whole point of the worksheet was to show your background knowledge on something??
Β Β The entire sentence doesn't even make sense. First, if a quiz is only gonna be 5 questions, a normal response would be to say that it's not bad, or easy, etc. And the grammar of "You can just AI it" is actually so funny to me because it's a perfect example of how you don't LEARN ANYTHING when you use AI for everything.Β
Β And it really doesn't help that a lot of teachers are using AI in the classroom now... It's not as bad but I still think the implications are the same, because you can't control or rely on an artificial intelligence to provide accurate information! Like training Gemini to give FRQ feedback will not exclude it's other functions, it is still a chatbot.
Β Β Honestly AI should have stayed in low-level data entry tasks within computers and stuff, not controlling our lives outside of the computers...
Β Β In conclusion, that guy is on the opp list now :] Please don't use AI for your schoolwork!!!!
