[Unsponsored] Playstation Time Tracker ... where have you been all my life?

if you're anywhere closer to a gamer that i am, you are probably well familiar with Steam, the game purchasing and socializing platform for games on PC. if you are even more familiar with it, you probably have an account and know that steam tracks your gameplay, as measured in hours.

this simple one feature is amazing. with people trying to get a thousand hours on one game for a shitty one liner joke to just seeing how much of your lifetime you spent on your favorite game, it's always fun to see those hours tick up and up! but then there's also the problem of keeping track of all of your other games. some platforms track gameplay differently, some don't count hours at all. vintage consoles, they don't track your gameplay at all sometimes!

and of course, there is the console players. especially on playstation, where ps5 is only now getting hour counting, and according to some people it's actually REALLY bad. that also leaves ps4 and ps3 users in the dust, left to deal with whatever comes to them...

so then for those on those earlier consoles midway through to try?

oh, look at that, a playstation time tracker!

if you are familiar, the concept of this kind of thing is nothing new. there has been many custom launchers for pc that tries to track the hours and merge them together for you (cough, gog galaxy...), and the odd platform with its own tracker. add a bot or join a group, and you're steamrolling.

so then ps3 and ps4 getting one is insane. all you have to do is add this bot, wait a couple of minutes for that friend request to get accepted and then you're on the go! it works on the past three playstation consoles (3 - 5) and apparently on vita too! they also give you the chance to look at your official psn logs for ps4 (and ps5?) that refreshes once a month, or you can use the bot to track your own stats on the ps3 and above

the only thing is that some features are gated against a supporter tier... but the basics are free to use, and tbh that's enough! there's not really any profile customization, but for the thing you care about (tracking gameplay), it works and it's really cool

it's not even a jailbreak thing ... this works on official firmware, you just lose a friend slot

the only limitation is you have to be logged into psn
