About Me!!

Hellooo my name's Ren and I'm 18 years old, (as already mentioned on my profile, but I'm saying it again because I don't know how to start introductions) but I thought I would write a small blog post about me / my life currently!

I'm half Filipino and half White, however, I'm not that connected to much of my Filipino culture as my father, (the reason why I'm half Filipino), isn't present in my family's lives. But I'd love to learn more about it and become more connected to that aspect of myself :) 

This period of time for me has been very transitional so far, I kind of feel like I'm in a anticlimactic, boring, coming of age movie that was written by a drunk Ottessa Moshfegh. But I'm just here for the ride I guess, I'm figuring things out one day at a time 

I'm currently enrolled in community college and am really just trying to survive and get my pre-requisites to then transfer to a four year university. I plan on majoring in English or History and getting my Bachelors degree, then hopefully going back to grad school as an (older) adult to get my master's in Library Science to be an archivist. 

I've been doing a lot more art recently, mostly due to my Drawing 101 class. But I've always loved creating since I a kid, mostly drawing, but I've grown fond of textile arts, collaging, and more! I've been working a lot with charcoal recently though, which I really like despite hating it in the beginning. 

My IRL friends and I write letters to each other which is a lot of fun, I found that I really like letter writing and snail mail in general. If anyone is interested in being pen pals, LMK! 

My clothing style is a mix of grunge and casual academia along with some gothic influence. I often wear red, black, purple, brown, and maroon. I've recently have been growing my skirt collection which has been really fun, wearing them makes me feel all cutesy and like a doll :3

Values: Creating distance between myself and the internet (ironic because of this blog, I know.), being in or creating community and safe spaces, furthering your knowledge outside of the classroom, sustainability, slow fashion, anti-consumerist, physical media, etc 

"Political"/"Controversial" Values: I support human rights. Thats it. I'm anti racist, against facism, and support gay and trans rights. (Which I dont think should be controversial, but some people may think it is.) Anti AI, I believe the traditional American school system is incredibly flawed and needs to be improved. If you're a bigot or against any of the things I have listed above, then DNI with my blog or profile.
