Die Hard - 1988

The classic action Christmas film. This movie is absolutely peak comedy, acting, and all-around amazing vibes.Β
For a film this old, it holds up incredibly well. It's better than a ton of the movies I watched this year, and honestly, it's just such a shame that I can even say that unironically.Β
This movie is about a cop named John McClane (Bruce Willis) from New York who goes to California to visit his wife and kids for Christmas. John's wife, Holly McClane, played by Bonnie Bedelia, is working at the Nakatomi Corporation and was moving up the ranks, which caused her to have to move from New York to California, taking the kids with her, and causing some relationship problems. As John goes to visit her in her workplace for a Christmas party, a group of terrorists infiltrate the building, taking her and all the other employees hostage on Christmas Eve. John was luckly away on the upper floors while this takeover took place, leaving him to be the only one to be able to fight back against the group led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman).
Bruce Willis is the perfect mix of badass, charming, and funny in this film, and I can't see anyone else playing his role as John McClane the way he does. He has so many iconic lines in this movie, like "Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!" andΒ "Do I sound like I'm ordering a pizza?" I'm also gonna be a bit unprofessional here and just say he has too much swag.
Another person in the movie with too much swag and aura is Alan Rickman. Honestly, I've never seen him in anything outside of his role as Professor Snape in Harry Potter, and he's my favorite character, so the moment I saw him in this movie, I knew it was gonna be a banger. He just has this very nonchalant, sophisticated, and elegant way about him. He is a perfect villain, and I would recommend that you guys watch this movie just for him.
RIP Alan Rickman.Β ποΈ
I must also reiterate that this movie is indeed a Christmas film, although it is mostly action you are seriously still hit with the amazing feelings of Christmas in this movie, so it's perfect for the holidays if you don't want to watch anything too cheesy and corny.
Also, this is a pretty small thing, but I also have to point this out because it made me really happy seeing my people represented like this. The way they include black characters in this film is something I wish more films would do. It didn't feel like it as for diversity, and really, they didn't incorporate any stereotypes that are degrading or annoying to see. And that's saying a lot for a movie that came out in 1988, so props to them for just having the black characters be normal people like they should be.
Anyway, that's all I have to say. For more reviews click this link right here.
And remember, stay swaggyπ£
