Books I Like to Read

Hey everyone! I am back with a list of books or book series I like to read. Some you have definitely have heard before, some you have not. This does not include Manga btw, as that would make the list longer ToT.

Tales From the Gas Station

Written by Jack Townsend, I discovered this book series through one of my favourite podcasts; Creepcast. They read the old Reddit version on their channel, this was when Jack wrote it originally, and then formatted it into a book, along with alterations to some things like names. I love this book, and would say it is definitely more on the comedy side of comedy horror. One of my favourite book series ever. The way Jack writes and forms his sentences are just brilliantly hilarious. As of writing, I am on the fourth book!!

Penpal

This is just plain, sad, horror. I also first heard this listening to Creepcast (no surprise there), and decided to purchase the book myself (which has more content than the version Creepcast read) and balled my eyes out. So sad, but good and amazingly written. The stories from a kid's perspective paints a fun and horrifying scene. It's just awesome.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

So this book I haven't actually finished yet (whoops). But if you wanna read something stupid and possibly learn half truths about Abe Lincoln's life then this is a perfect book for that. I swear I could siphon some facts of his life after sifting through all the vampire killings. It's absurd, and I learned that it was a book and not just a movie after seeing it online somewhere. Every hotel I went to had this movie playing and I thought the idea and title alone was insanely funny. Later on I watched a movie called Pride Prejudice and Zombies and learned that is also based on a book written by the same guy. That makes sense.

Twilight

Okay, Twilight is a supernatural book series, but somehow the way it describes everyday life just makes me appreciate the little things in life like driving my car and talking to friends. I don't need to explain Twilight to you, but for it involving vampires and werewolves, the day to day stuff feels extremely human.

The Hunger Games

The first Hunger Games book was the first book I really plowed through, almost reading the entire thing in a day. I was in middle school at the time, and hadn't really read any books that hooked me as much as this one. Maybe the Hatchet series, but this realllllyyy got me. The new books are so good too, and Sunrise on the Reaping is gonna come out soon! Nuff said.

The Ultimate Guide to Sea Glass: Beach Comber's Edition: Finding, Collecting, Identifying, and Using the Ocean's Most Beautiful Stones

Long title, I know. But this was a fun read as someone who likes to collect sea glass. It talks about how people long ago (and some today) threw out their broken dishware into the ocean, creating seaglass, along with just a crap ton of information about where to find it, rare colours to find and why they are rare, cool finds, just a lot of different topics. I remember spending my time on a trip to Florida reading it, and it was a good time. Right now I have a book on blacksmithing, and I should also get to finishing that book (though I haven't warped metal before)

Vampires and Vampirism

You can read this on Project Gutenberg. I actually printed this out and bound it into a book (twice!). My mom found it interesting because this was published in 1914 and catalogues believes people held about the so-called "vampire" and how different areas around the world dealt with them, along with stories that had spread along. It is crazy to hear about it straight from over a century ago, PLUS the way it is written is very easy for the modern day person to read! That was one of the things I was surprised about.

The Sea Lady

Another story off of Project Gutenberg, this book was published in 1902 by H.G. Wells, and follows the story of a mermaid who has come to visit the world of the walking. From what I remember, there is no massive plot, just the funny and pleasant goings on of a household that welcomes her into their home. I haven't read the entire thing, but the excerpts I have read seem interesting and comedic- so you bet at some point I'm gonna read the whole thing.

AO3

Just AO3. So many stories written by people who are extremely talented. Maybe it's not in a book format, but it easily could be. Whenever I see a typo in some stories, it tells me they wrote the story/ chapter in one go, and I wonder how they could write something so good just from straight outta their heads. Also thank God for the tag warnings, so you can avoid accidentally reading something you wish you never did ToT

Anyways!

Thanks for taking the time to looks at these! Hopefully one of these things have interested you into reading XD
