But it's really weird how fashion can completely change it's core meaning or context if it's just quirky enough... These days quirky sells, and no one cares about the origins of the item.
You're a celebrity who wants to be the hippest person at the gala? Wear ripped clothes by your favourite designer.
You're an old lady or man who wants to look serious in your pensioner group? Wear a bomber jacket.
You're a successful person who wants to show off how posh you are? Wear Fjällräven (that was once an outdoors clothing company mostly used by people who didn't have a fortune).
I honestly understand why a lot of "alt" people don't dress that way anymore, if they value their independence. Fashion should be inclusive yes, but some clothes have such deep subcultural roots that it's just weird seeing people outside of that subculture wearing them... at least to me.
