so we're singing a song called 'for the beauty of the earth' and I did a little research on it last night bc I had my suspicions and i learned it's a quite religious song used both in Christianity and Catholicism. Listen, I go to a public school. its not a private school or anything and I personally think it's wrong to make an entire choir of very diverse people sing a song thats strictly christan/Catholic. I feel I shouldn't be forced to sing it. I'm not against any religion at all FYI I'm not religious and I see making us sing this song is forcing those religions upon us. correct me if I'm wrong but I personally see this as wrong. here's the lyrics
1. For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies;
over and around us lies:
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise.
2. For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale,
and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light:
Sun and moon and stars of light:
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise.
3. For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth,
and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild:
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise.
4. For each perfect gift of thine
To our race so freely given,
Graces human and divine,
Flow’rs of earth and buds of heav’n:
flow’rs of earth and buds of heav’n:
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise,
our hymn of praise
