I moved to a quaint college town just the sum of two months ago. Hasn't felt as much the time, yet I've already paid rent twice and the third bill is due the first of December, so I suppose I must've been here this long already. It's small in both size and population, the area entirely assessible by bycycle and the population friendly enough. I just thought I would have something going by now, have more roots invested. I want friends in the area, people to ride bikes with and tune their radios on a matching frequency. I moved with my partner so I'm not alone, I just want to make something of myself here. I go to the fiber arts club at the library when I can, making well conversation with the older woman there, finding some common space as they speak of retirement and ever increasing health problems and where's the best place to buy yarn. I want to start volenteering with the parks dept, figure that'll build some skills and help me better understand this land. I'm hopefull that when I leave this town someday, my absent will go noticed. i need to get back in touch with the elements that make me feel

Just takes time. It seems like you're on the right track for sure, you're taking your hobbies and finding ways to engage with them socially and that's all you can do! I'm 3 months in to a new city and it's exactly the same. Bike safe :)

Hey!
I really hope that you find more friends and a sense of fulfillment in your new town. :3
Also, a kind of random thing, but I feel that you would enjoy the movie The Spitfire Grill - it's very similar to what this blog is about; moving into a new, smaller town and learning to become one with the community and understanding the self.
hii thank u sm.. Also i will totally watch that movie, my favorite films are like slice of life stuff. Hoping it's on the internet archive so I can burn it on a cd or something

I'm pretty sure that it's somewhere on the internet, but if not; maybe a public library or a second-hand store will have it. I wish you luck in finding it!
