PUBLIC SCHOOL STORIES:

DISCLAIMER: I do have to keep most of this vague for my privacy, and I do simplify many details, but the stories are true at the core.

PART 1 -- MIDDLE SCHOOL:

CONTEXT: now what you need to understand is that covid hit from 6th-7th (6 7...) grade, and 8th grade was the basically only "normal" year out of the two. 

not to mention that our school administration REALLY struggled to hold up during all the chaos of those years, and most importantly, could NOT control the students. the admin had no backbones at all, they tried enforcing some dumb rules to keep kids from getting out of control but we learned really fast that they had like, no power.

1) confetti eggs- a trend for about a month was cracking confetti eggs on other students. like, no matter where you were you could look into a direction and see a kid getting confetti egged. and it would be a huge ass mess.

2) handheld lasers- there was another month where the fad was handing out handheld pointers to just be a distraction in class. this era was extremely annoying, because in like every single class I had there would be at least 4 kids shining pointers in peoples faces. the worst part being teachers couldn't ever find the source of who had it.

3) water guns- this went on for maybe 2 months, and its pretty self explanatory. kids handed out those mini water guns before school and would cause havoc in class. a little more funny, but not when random innocent people were getting sprayed in the face at 9am. 

4) pride riots- this is one i have to be vague about since it was so bad a few local newspapers wrote about it. a girl brought a pride flag to school, and caused so many fights over it (note: i'm not writing her like she was the victim, she wasn't- she was causing problems for no reason) that an entire mob formed of at least 200 7th-8th graders, fights breaking out everywhere, and admin completely lost control. I mean, yes that girl caused problems, but it was maybe 1 against 200 other kids??? 

I remember that day, I literally watched it happen from start to finish. the admin after about 20 minutes finally broke up (again like HALF OF THE STUDENT POPULATION). none of the kids who were shouting slurs and trying to hatecrime the few gay kids at school got in trouble!!! even though it was all recorded.

this week was so insane. we got our lunch period taken away from us in the next week, everyone had to sit in an assigned class. literally no learning happened this whole week because there were fights breaking out and literally bibles being thrown in class.

you wanna know how admin handled it? our principal filmed an excuritcating 13 MINUTE LONG video just talking about how "we are a family guys... don't fight..." and every person had to watch it on Monday morning. no students on either side got in trouble. (eventually it died out but it was a crazy few weeks)

summary: most homophobic week of my middle school career 

5) soundcloud rapper concert- there is some dude in our area who is famous for throwing unauthorized concerts at middle and high schools. wont say his name, and i mean like the dude has maybe 30 Spotify followers. after a bunch of kids at my school requested a free concert. he announced when and where his concert would be aka, afterschool in the parking lot.

the admin were FREAKING OUT sending emails to parents and the police department, and yes, he did throw his concert after school. i didn't see it myself but from videos it looked like the guy was blasting shitty rap music on top of his white van!! awesome!!

the best part about this was that kids made tshirts and posters that said like "I LOVE (rappers name)" and everyone was hyping up the concert all day.

6) pink barbie car- last day of school, a mob of 7th-8th graders were riding in those tiny pink plastic barbie cars around school, which apparently got the admin really mad. so they tried chasing them down. funny thing, uh, they couldn't catch the kids. bc all the admin is like, old as shit. eventually they cornered the kids but that was some looney toons ass shit to see. 

HONORABLE MENTIONS: 

- a group of like 15 boys for no reason broke a lunch table by jumping on it then walked away like nothing happened 

- there was an infamous jerk circle in the boys bathroom first week of 8th grade

- a teacher who was a known pedophile finally got suspended, not because of his pedophile activities but because he attempted to strangle a kid on the DC trip

PART 2 -- HIGH SCHOOL: 

CONTEXT: there was a lot less shit going down in highschool, mostly because people chilled out after 8th grade.

1) fire alarms- very general because i think someone pulls the fire alarm around here like once/twice a week

2) school completely shut down- on a random day the entire school got a black out, our wifi cut out, our AC shut off, and not a single computer worked on the premises. for hours kids tried to leave school but they refused to let us go. 

because none of the computers worked, even in the admin, they made the ENTIRE SCHOOL (over a thousand and then some) MANUALLY GET CALLED OUT. the process? wait in a line in front of the office (completely packed) (also btw it was over 90 degrees out) (fahrenheit), when you get to the front you had to have a parent on the phone to tell a counselor to call you out, and then they had to jot your name down. the process took about 3 hours.

i don't know why they didn't just let us leave?????

3) bomb scare- a shelter in  place because they though there was a bomb at school. they got the whole bomb squad and everything. it was just a diabetes tracker or something in a trashcan. boringggggg

4) 2 lockdowns in a row- this one requires some context. there are these two very white trash girls in our grade. i mean like, cookie monster pajamas, walk the mile and hot cheetos in hand white girls. who absolutely hated each other. and also know that our school has an "anonymous" tip line to report suspicious activity, etc.

well these girls really hated each other so for a week they would "anonymously" report each other for super serious offenses, like a gun at school or something.

the first lockdown they cleared up pretty quick (maybe only lasted 20 minutes). but the second one? 4 HOURS. I WAS TRAPPED IN 1ST PERIOD FOR 4 HOURS. my classroom was near the front, so we could see the dozens of police cars and shit in the parking lot. they started rounding up students for bathroom trips. i was so fucking hungry but they wouldn't let anyone leave. it was fucking miserable.

they tracked down where the "anonymous" bomb/gun claims had come from (aka the 2 white trash girls) via IP and they both got arrested in class. one of them got expelled and charged with the felony, and for some reason, the other still goes here.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: 

- kid with furry tail at school for a few weeks. after a while I think they told him to take it off

- school fight where one kid WWE style threw another kid over his shoulder. hard to explain you just kind of had to see it. a real fucking avengers move i swear

- freshman year, my class locked my spanish teacher out of the room and watched dhar mann on his projector for like 15 minutes. this is the same class where we used to have food fights. he hated us. he also got fired like a year later.
