do you really need social media platforms for creativity?

personally, i have been watching yt videos about people quitting social media and i have been considering on doing so as well. but i like to think having platforms for creativity is helpful in building community and audience, as well as tracking growth from it. is it really a necessity now to have social platforms?

There is a clear difference between "social platform" and "media platform."

It depends how you use it.

If you only consume, it becomes a media platform. You don't get inspiration, you just numb yourself over and over, etc.

Now, on the other hand, if you consume content, create content, get in contact with communities (healthy ones, of course), get feedback, give feedback, support others and grow little by little then it IS a social platform.

Most of the people only use platforms to consume.

i mean, i think its not rly a necessity, but its obviously like a super big tool.

if u rly wanted to, u can always try and have a local community of artists, and u can also find ur inspiration from irl things.

but having online communities is fun! and finding inspiration from online things isnt a bad thing imo, its pretty much the same as finding inspiration from anything else.

i think it just depends on what u personally want to create, and what u maybe want to be a part of.
