The Thing (1982)

Hello everyone. In addition to being back addicted to Voices of the Void's 0.9 update, I watched a movie today! The Thing (currently free with ads on YouTube!) was a really neat watch. I didn't know how culturally significant it was until I really sat down, watched, and thought about it. Gotta say, I love a good movie about cosmic body horror. And the practical effects? Chef's kiss. Literally magic, I swear. It really does still hold up! You can't say that about every 80's flick, LOL.

The ambiguous ending was... Interesting. It felt a little bland, if I'm honest. I guess it's left up to viewer interpretation to decide if Childs and MacReady are hosting the thing. Or if they're even saved at all. In my opinion...? Unlikely. It'd be pretty cinematic and ironic if they ended up like the Norwegians they tried to help in the beginning of the movie. Maybe the rescue team that finds their base camp will end up the same way... Ough. I love motifs and repeated theming in storytelling.

Can you tell who was my favorite?  hehe
