Alternative???

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of content along the lines of “if you wanna develop your style do this!” Or “if u wanna develop ur style do that!” What happened to just buying clothes you like and figuring it out later? What happened to experimenting and forming your own opinion?

There’s been a lot of talk about how the “awkward stage” is gone, ppl are just going from kids to having a fully flushed out style…. But it’s NOT their style, it might be but most of the time they just see a few TikTok videos and claim they are that subculture without knowing the history or meaning behind it. This is really annoying because some of these subcultures have a heavy emphasis on political ideology and just basic morals and now these n@zi punks are popping up… what happened??? 

The raise of alternative people have turned it into something else entirely. How are we supposed to be alternative if we have nothing to alternate from? There have always been horrible people on every side of everything and I know there were horrible alternative people in the early internet as well but I feel like it’s been getting worse lately. I’ve also met a lot of people recently though who are nicer than average and that helps restore hope a little bit:)
