poem | 「黄菊の夢」- 'dream of the yellow chrysanthemum'

「春陰夜、          | 'grey november night,

腕組んで寝た。     | she falls asleep in my arms.

目覚め泣き          | I cry when I wake,

また梅雨なのに、  | to long rains falling once more-- 

彼女抜き悔ゆ。」   | lacking her, chrysanthemum.'

(※ within the last line, 「抜き悔ゆ」romanises to 'nuki-kuyu'; and 'ki-ku' could also be read as 「菊」, chrysanthemum! -- thought it was a fun coincidence, and noted it as such in the english translation! :-) )
