this shit isn't anything new. for as long as cosplay has existed racism has always been apart of it.
it's so crazy to me because do you think only whites or Asians watch your favorite shows and like the same characters as you? black people are ALLOWED to enjoy non-blacks in media, Hispanics are ALLOWED to enjoy non-Hispanics, and so on for everyone else. it's insane to me that i have to say "allow" like WTF YALL. media isn't cultured in the absolute slightest yet these no lives seem to think so. if black people can't cosplay as anime characters, then a white people shouldn't be able to either. it's that simple. if we want to bring race into it then let's all watch the shows made in or by our countries and that's it. but no OFC NOT it's not about the media. it's just (mostly, or what I see most) white people being like "BLACKS CANT COSPLAY WHITE/ASIAN PEOPLE BC IT'S NOT ACCURATE!!!" sybau bro. you know most cosplayers AREN'T MAKING THEIR COSPLAYS ACCURATE RIGHT?? most put artistic liberty into their work because their cosplaying as a fictional character and want to put themselves into the costume. besides, just appreciate the craftsmanship no matter whos wearing it, or whether they look like the character their cosplaying. cosplay is just a way to show how much you love a character, but as soon as a black person does it that's out the window. it's so dehumanizing to act this way. they always have to go out of there way to MAKE SURE their wrong opinion is the loudest and in the face of the creator.
no one should be bullied out of existence no matter the race or color. end of argument.
