★ 2025/11/16 - paint it black 𝄞

this post will be a huge mess but hey, when isn't it a huge mess around here. im also gonna do some silly fun colour things with this one because why not. (i probably will remove most of the colours for tumblr, especially since tumblr has less for colours)

TODAY'S BIG THING: auditions for my school's cabaret, titled Welcome to the Black Parade, are this week and im not quite set on a song to use for it. the thing is, i think this cabaret's theme is cool and 2000s emo rock is cool but its not really in the scope of what i listen to casually, and although the teacher posted a website that has audition songs for American Idiot that we could use for ideas, i dont know if im down to learn & memorize a whole new song before thursday. i have a whole lot happening this week. i have a little conversation thing in french class on tuesday that i have no plan for yet, the awards ceremony/reception/thing? is tomorrow and im in orchestra for that (and idk what im gonna wear yet???),,

point is i would rather stick to stuff i know, but i dont know much that fits into the theme really. the closest thing i have would probably be The Crane Wives? my top pick right now is The Hand That Feeds since it's kind of on theme lyrically and represents my vocal range well for the most part, but again, it's not really there instrumentally.
though i guess my voice is the more important part... last time i picked a song that was way too low for me because i thought we would get to sing the whole song (we didnt), so my music teacher had me sing a snippet of our choir rep which was actually in my range lol.

we'll also have to read a short bit of dialogue since there will be a bit of acting (for context, we usually dont do cabarets, we do proper musicals). i think (i hope) this one will go better than my audition for the music man in 2023, because 1, ive had one musical worth of experience, and 2, the scene they had me read for that one was zaneeta shinn acting all flustered and nervous because she's standing right next to her crush, tommy djilas. they. shouldnt have given me that scene to read. sdjhfjhsdjh. i mean, i liked the roles i ended up with anyway though (gracie shinn, + one of the salespeople in the very first scene). i got REALLY into the salesperson role. and definitely got really annoying when it came to Rock Island. to be clear, i like the other students who played salespeople but. i got kind of frustrated that everyone else was struggling with the rhythm of their lines, and it came to me so easily to the point where if someone was absent for a rehearsal i could say their lines for them like it was nothing. .....this is a (musically) gifted kid thing isnt it. fuck

ANYWAY. my whole audition last year was a mess for reasons that both were (song choice) and were not (scene choice) my fault. this one will probably be better i think.

okok. new topic. there is someone ive slightly considered asking for song recommendations but. i just think it would be awkward (not to mention we havent talked much since end of august because it swapped schools). its actually the friend who opened SpaceHey during class which made me think to create this account. (if it happens to see this post that would be reallyyy awkward LOL)
it LOVES bands like My Chemical Romance, Pierce The Veil, Sleeping with Sirens, etc etc. its also very emo and very cool. im not actually sure if it knows about the cabaret yet, but we've all been jokingly saying that it's going to be so upset that we're doing it literally right after it left. (we've also said that it's getting a front row seat of course /silly)

random side tangent. this person is. sososo cool. like, its style isnt really my style but i love its style anyway, & its a band AND strings kid (was in the same strings class as me for two years + orchestra). for some odd reason when we were both in grade 9 i thought it was in grade 10 (the strings class was a 9/10/11 split), and i didnt realize it was my age until our grade 10 year when we shared like four or five classes lmao. it's MUCH more diligent about practicing then i am, pretty much every day at lunch it would be practicing viola or clarinet. also when i mentioned to it and our other friend that i wanted to take band class, it told me some things to keep in mind, like how its super important to clean your instrument because of all the spit involved. also that all the woodwind instruments play in treble clef (this is good info for me as a violinist).

SPEAKING OF BAND !! music teacher said she might be able to send me home with an instrument over the summer and i could potentially take grade 11 band next year (normally you have to take either grade 9 or 10 band before you can take grade 11). i'd still have a lot of catching up to do but. if this works out for me that would be awesome. i wont know until closer to course selections though when the music teacher has a better idea of what the class make up will be

OH one last thing. UNBEATABLE got delayed to december 9th (original release date november 6th) and i am sad. but also delayed game better than broken game
