this post will be just me yapping about his lore amd how much i love him be aware...............

THE CHOSEN ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Animator vs. Animation)

ah, Chosen... they will never make me hate you,... no matter how many warcrimes you commit.......

he doesn't have much screentime but he's still soooo interesting and has potential

his story starts when the animator (kind of like the god in this series) brings him to life, just so he (animator) could have more of a challenge (note that Chosen is kind of a sucessor to another character, Victim). They fought for a bit inside the animator's computer until Chosen started creating way too much havoc and threatened to turn off his computer after destroying and deleting a bunch of stuff, so the animator activates the antivirus, apprisioning him. after this Chosen is ENSLAVED by his own creator. for 4 goddamn years. unfortunately we don't know what the animator did to Chosen during these years but it's a geral consensus that he was veryyy likely tortured and used as a plaything

then, after these 4 loongs years, Chosen stumbles upon an ad. an ad of freedom... and he gets motivated by it! but before he could click on it so he could be fred, the animator drags it out of his reach. and Chosen gets like. SUPERRR pissed by that. Chosen manages to free himself from his chains by tricking the animator and they fight again.,, however this time instead of just activating the antivirus the animator decides to creator ANOTHER opponent for Chosen: The Dark Lord (see picture bellow) 

fun fact: Dark x Chosen (ChoDark) is the most famous non-canon ship in the fandom! (enemies to lovers to enemies trope)

one thing you must know about him is that before converting him to symbol (giving him life), the animator wrote a mission code inside him. a code that obligues him to destroy Chosen (very important if you want to understand his behaviour, but since this post is Chosen-centric i will barely get into it. if this post becomes a big hit i'll make another post about DARK LORD AND WHY HE ISN'T JUST PURE EVIL)

now, instead of having to fight a mini digital god with the fallen angel motif the animator can just lay back while playing poker. his creation with machine motif will handle it--- oh wait fuckkkk. they teamed up... are they?... yup, they're bluescreening my computer... god damn it....

Chosen convinces Dark to join him and they OBLITERATE the animator's computer. did they survive, are you asking. yes they did!! moments before the explosion, Chosen managed to open a portal through the wifi symbol, and they enter it and go to the Outernet (fan-given name as we don't know the official name; all u have to know is that it's essentially our earth but digital)

we don't know exactly what happened RIGHT after they escaped, but the serie shows us that they commited terrorism throughout various sites (mainly animation and browser games sites). there's even an episode where they have a lil break from all the destruction and visit minecraft during it's beta days! (only Chosen haha Dark was ULTRAKILLING it in the nether)

all this terrorism they were commiting was shown only as brief flashblacks (mostly static images), but there's one in specific that they gave more attention: the newgrounds attack.

this event ties very deeply with the backstory of ANOTHER character: Victim (image of them bellow if you wanna see what they look like

since this is also very important to Chosen's future backstory, i will explain what happened in the episode.

Victim and Mitsi (implied to be their lover or something i dont care unless its yuri) were throwing a birthday party for the company they've founded together. however, at one point during the celebration, a lot of animations (the ones that had files hosted in newgrounds) started vanishing, Mitsi included (since Victim was never uploaded anywhere they just stood there. alone.)

as you may have guessed, these animations were brought back to newgrounds, which was burning to ashes. chaos everywhere. and the culprits were Chosen and Dark, but they were flying so fast they were nothing but a blur. no one could see them, only the flames they were aiming at the ground to destroy even more. 

Mitsi was helping the ones trapped under the rubble, until she herself got trapped. Agent (another one of Victim's ''friends'') came in to aid her, but he was too late. a fireball hit the spot where she was, marking her death. 

amidst the thick smoke, Agent saw him. The Chosen One, The Angel of Death, the reaper of aniamtionkind. held high aloft by his mortal blazes, staring down at him with an apparent divine apathy. he backed away and ran away, escaping to the Outernet safely.

after there was nothing left but broken buildings and inferno, Chosen and Dark landed, taking a rest, but...

although Dark seemed to be very giddy and excited about the attack, Chosen seemed a bit off. maybe under the weather. underwhelmed. very clearly not feeling happy or proud (even considering the lack of faces on the show, he still is so very clearly not happy). he's just there. staring. even when Dark raised his hand for a high-five, Chosen still took a few seconds to notice and process what Dark wanted, and then he finally raised his hand so Dark could high five him (yes Chosen didn't bother high fiving Dark, he just raised his hand to let Dark do it).

Chosen had a change of heart, clearly. or had he always been like this?

i have this little headcanon...., that Chosen was trying to mentally distance himself from the current situation.... because it was too much for him, too brutal and cruel...

NOW HHERES A VERY IMPORTANT DISCUSSION IN THE FANDOM BEFORE THE TIME SKIP!!!!!!!!!

though the scene where mitsi dies only shows Chosen, with Dark being nowhere to be seen, it is debated that DARK is the one who killed MItsi, not Chosen, and he only happened to be at the scene right when she died. some people stretch it as far that Chosen was actually attempting to save Mitsi before Dark got her, but i don't believe this part. he may have had the thought of saving her, but he did nothing. he was an enabler of Dark's murderous behavior (i probably will make another blogpost about my take on Chosen's and Dark's relationship but not now)

TIMESKIP LETS FREAKING GOOOO!!!!!!!!! (season 2 yeahh babyy)

circa 2017. it is interpreted by us (fandom) that Chosen and Dark took a break from the attacks and settled in on a isolated house but we're not really sure. maybe they continued killing people and shi and just have a nice house

anyway Chosen was just chilling doing whatever until he decided to check on Dark to see what hes doing holed up in his room like a nerrdddd

and as soon as Chosen walks in Dark greets him very happily and is all like "heyyy darling look at this evil robot (trademark) i built to destroy the world" and Chosen is "what." Dark makes a little demonstration on how his evil fucked up machine works (it can fulminate and erase things from existence!!) and Chosen pictures a mental image of Dark commiting mass murder in seconds and he gets desperate because duh my bro is going tO FUCKING KILL EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!! MUST STOP HIM!!!!!!!!!

Dark was going to launch one of these machines but before he could do that Chosen pushes him away and makes it very clear that he doesn't want Dark to do this. Dark is "alright then..." but then he runs back to push the evil button. Chosen punches him to the floor (may seem a bit agressive but remember that they are GODS WITH POWERFUL SKILLS. a punch is nothing for them; Dark even seems physically fine in the shot) and that makes Dark sour asf so he throws a fireball at Chosen, who very skillfully dodges. they mostly fight only throwing punches and kicks (again, this is the equivalent of a verbal discussion for them) until Dark throwns another fireball at the wall behind Chosen, distracting him. taking advantage of the opportunity, Dark rushes back to the machine, and Chosen takes one DRASTIC decision: he accumulates some weird power shit on his fist and punches Dark lauching him to the sky (very funny scene if you ask me Dark is just spinning like crazy in the sky). however as he did it Dark had already presses the button, sending the evil robot to...

wait. isn't this the name of his creator?

Dark had sent this murderous machine... to their creator? the same one that enslaved him... and tortured him... He's the one that scarred his mind, broke all his innocence, treated him like a wild beast...

should He really be saved? does He deserve it?

Chosen gets over this dillema and decides to save his creator, despite the harsh treatment in the past. he isn't sure if he forgave Him, but this feels the right thing to do. saving someone is good, right?

in the computer, Chosen stumbles upon not only his creator, now looking much older and mature through the screen, but also other animations. no time to dwell on that now. he has business to solve here.

Chosen very badassly shounen-style aniquilates the robot and goes back to the outernet to beat Dark's ass. the animator's new creations follow him out of curiosity.

Chosen finds Dark and he turns to his friend expectantly. will Chosen apologize? realize his mistakes? will he-- ah he punched me. very well then.

this time Chosen and Dark start fighting for real, using their powers (due to the previous scene where Chosen uses all his powers, compared to this fight where Chosen only uses his fire and laser powers, it is argued that Chosen was holding back and didn't have the intent to hurt Dark badly)

after a long fight, Dark throws Chosen into the sea to slow him down. he's fast: Dark goes back to his seaside shack and grabs one of his newest inventions: the ViraBand. it enhances his previous powers, and even grants him some new ones!

look at this shot. it's so badass isn't it? Dark is cultivating his auras rn.

THIS is when Dark took it too far.

they fight once more, but Chosen is clearly losing, luckily, he has some unexpected aid...

his creator helps him during the fight. still in cursor form, sure, but it's great!...

until Dark erases Him with his new powers, great. now Chosen is all alone again.,

Dark manages to subdue him, until someone, another hollowhead, jumps in into the fight.

Orange, or better, their real filename: The Second Coming. along with their friends, yellow, red, green and blue

obviously that makes Dark pissy so he kills them all. until he gets to Orange. unlike the others that got erased instantly when stabbed, Orange didn't. that made Dark even more upset, so he stabbed Orange from every angle possible, and threw him at the other side of the bay.

unfortunately for Dark, Orange is the protagonist, so he unlocks some reall badass green powers and kills him, revives his friends, and conveniently passes out and forgets everything after

Chosen just watched. he let Orange kill Dark.

one thing you will notice through the entire show is that Chosen doesn't seem to react to death. everytime someone died in front of him he just... stared. he does nothing. no signal of being shocked, sad, or anything. just a emotionless mask. and this is very intentional (if that wasn't clear enough) because every other character (that has canonically seen someone dying; basically everyone lmao) reacts to seeing someone dying rather intensely. Victim, for example, reacted to Mitsi's death with shock, and then they were in a catatonic state for a period of time. Orange reacted to their friends' temporary death with sadness and then anger. even Dark reacts to death (though since he's insane he IS the causer of the death and is always happy when killing, so...)

but i don't judge Chosen for not reacting, especially considering his history. when he was first created he never got a human treatment so i heavily doubt Chosen has developed a sense of simpathy, how to deal with his own emotions (AND how to demonstrate them), and more: on the previous two deaths mentoned here (Mitsi's and Dark's) the reason why he did nothing to stop or at least TRY can also be atrelated to his past in the PC: Chosen could have learned that in the end it's truly useless to fight back or do anything to try and improve his situation; that 

Chosen is all alone. and AGAIN WE DON'T HAVE A SINGLE FUCKING SCENE. SHOWING HOW CHOSEN WAS AFTER DARK DYING!! FOR FUCK'S SAKE THEY WERE FRIENDS FOR 7 YEARS I WANT TO SEE CHOSEN AT LEAST A BIT SAD!! SHOW ME HIM DOING STUFF AND THEN HE REMEMBERS DARK AND GETTING SAD. SHOW ME HIM LURKING IN HIS ROOM CURLED UP AND THINKING ABOUTDARK GIVE ME AT LEAST A 5 MINUTE SHORT EPISODE OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

but no. instead we have a 5 year timeskip (again).... and the episode starts with Chosen being pursued (obviously for his crimes; haha partially kidding) by some guys on really high-tech bikes.
