arcane >:)

the other day i stayed up like ALL NIGHT thinking about this godforsaken show. I swear to God I tried to sleep but I couldn't. my brain wasn't letting gme. I was genuinely trying to sleep, I had school tomorrow with imporant assignments :(. but I could not stop thinking about silco, and I'm way past the "oh he's so hot >:P" point. I'm in the "I'm going insane analyzing every frame he is me I am him". territory. I'm going INSANEEEEE. I'm gonna yap about everyhing on my mind rn..btw this is gonna get serious...lock in twin.

SPOILER ALERT FOR ARCANE BOTH SEASONS DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT FINISHED THE SHOW

I warned uuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh my god I HATE it when people dont recognize how good of an anganosist he is. techincally he's not a villain but I would say we could classify him as such because of the way the story was told. But I think the real villains are the piltover politicians. we all know the entire show is basically just a big old metaphor for how the world is right now... that being said, I do not hate jayce or piltover. I do dislike heimerdinger though, until he gets (finally) kicked off the council, he's been blind to everything happening in zaun and I'm glad he finally opened his eyes. Jayce is a very ignorant, well written, but ignorant character. Take a character like Vi or Powder (or jinx, however you prefer :p), they grew up around poverty and death, all too familiar with the idea of their loved ones dying, having to kill for loved ones or survival, stealing, lying, cheating, having to know how to survive-- everyone in zaun had their childhood robbed from them the moment they were born. We all are aware of that. And then take a character like Mel or Jayce or even Heimerdiger-- they all grew up rich, well, Jayce sort of, most of his life, but Mel?

Okay, hot take. do NOT kill me pls. I do not like Mel. Dont get me wrong though, shes absolutley gorgeous, a well written character with well written development that contributes to the story in a beautiful way, but I do not like her character. She is insanely rich, as quoted one of her first lines being, someone speaking to her something along the lines of "you are the richest in all of piltover", and her response being "yet the poorest in all of medarda family" (sum along the lines of that). this proves us two things. one, she has deeply rooted trauma as more explored in season two with her mother, whom groomed her into a lot of things as a child and as an adult alike, and she has a constant nagging in the back of her subconscious to be better than her mother all the way over in noxus. yet, the other thing it tells us is that shes basically the top 1%, the equvialent. the Elon musk of this show if the Elon musk was less of a POS. I am personally a leftist, teetering somewhere on the scale for anarchist, though I haven't done enough research yet to label myself one (since I'm not gonna....blindly label myself labels I don't know enough about), I dislike the rich. I don't think anyone needs THAT much money, in real life and in fiction either.

I wanna talk about Jayce too, cuz he's both directly and kind of related-- directly being his relationship with Mel (jayvik is better), and kind of, talking about his....rich-ness, if that's a word. Arcane is based off of league of legends, a game that has so much lore I haven't explored it all, (no I will not play the game, I don't wanna become an incel, thank you very much), I'm not exactly a hundred percent sure how Jayce's life was growing up before the scene where (spoiler alert) Viktor saved him and his mother in the snow storm, but I assume since the talis family was a hammer thingy, It couldn't have been too bad, but not too good either if his mom and him had to escape through the snow-- but what I can say, is that he, infact, after like, 6 years old lived in wealth. Everyone in piltover does. evidence for this is that he was funded by the kiramann's at just around 24, which means they somehow had to get in contact with them and somehow get them to like Jayce enough, and if Jayce was poor, we know they wouldn't have funded his research. he is a very ignorant person in politics, which is, sort of acceptable but is extremely not. Jayce never planned on going into politics, he is a SCIENTIST for Janna's sake (haha get it is this hip is this cool am I cool kewlll), not a politician. But he wants to keep moving forward, and encouraged by mel (woulnd't call it grooming but is borderline is), he takes the position of heimerdinger. I am currently rewatching the show because I don't remember everything from season two, I watched it over a year ago (but god I cant watch s1 ep9 bro I cry), so excuse me if I get facts wrong. Jayce wants to help zaun, he really does, but he just simply doesn't understand how bad it is down there. The only two times he's been down there before everything went down in s2 was mentioned in ep1 or ep2, when he's around 24 years old, and bought a bunch of stuff from benzo. little man (ekko) was telling someone about it (sorry forgot) and how he charged the sucker double price, and then later you can see jayce with stuff from benzo's shop. the second time is when he goes down there with vi and accidentally kills that boy.

Back to my first paragraph (god this got serious since then), vi didn't bat an eye. As I said, zaunties had to grow up witnessing that thing on the daily, even after the failed revolution across the bridge. Jayce felt the worst he's ever felt arguably up until that point in the show. He used to think simply talking would solve everything-- and the worst part is, he hasn't even seen the worst of it. Viktor (god there's so much abt Viktor I need to do more research Jesus Christ), for example, is a very well written gray area I will talk about in a bit. Its briefly showed with vi and caitlyn, the first time caitlyn sees silco as shes helping vi after she was bleeding out, and we see the worst of the worst-- homeless shelters, dozens upon dozens, all addicted to shimmer (metaphor to drug use in the current world), with their brains out, pulsing, and bones sticking out their pale, dirty skin. Jayce has barely seen that. ever. he isn't fit to be a politician. (I like how the ending ended up with sevika as one, very very good for piltover and zaun's future)

Viktor, this gorgeous man, he is so extremely well written, and the end revelation still shakes me to this day whenever I think about it too hard. Its so heartbreaking having to watch him slowly start to wither away, trying so hard to find a way to keep himself and people in the future, and people NOW in the undericty alive, that he resorts to horrible horrible substances like shimmer-- killing Sky in the process along with more in the future. Its all so heartbreaking yet so amazing. I havent done that much research on Viktor yet and I'm trying to rewatch arcane, cant get past s1 ep9, so ill get back with throhought analyzation of every single character in the future.

Jinx is also extremely complex-- if you asked me a year ago, I got so obsessed with her I gaslighted myself into having schizophrenia but only when I was conciously trying to have it to be like her (I was coping...idk what the hell was going on), but my brain decided to block out most of last year's oct-jan, so I have to do research on her again to be able to give you guys a full, good character analysis.

Silco on the other hand-- for any silco fans reading right now, this is gonna be the biggg silco portion. I'm talking multiple paragraphs. first silly little analyzes and then serious sad angst shit. ready set GO!

We know Vander, Felicia and silco were all friends before the revolutionary war that failed (I like to head cannon they met as kids but who knows). the show told us they were. Against popular belief, I do not ship Vander x silco, or Vander x silco x Felicia, or Vander x Felicia, or silco x felicia-- Felicia is with connel. he's only mentioned once, I dont know why, but felicia was knocked up by connel.

In the flashback, of the younger days before the war, (I'm talking about the scene where Felicia goes "Im knocked up"), we can see silco doodling. Throhought the show we see that he's a very creative character. He used to draw, write poetry, he has paint canvases in his office when he's older, turned against the wall, but still there nonetheless. he designed the last drop-- both the cozy bar and the wild nightclub version. he came up with the logo for both. He mimics pilover's accent, along with the way they dress (be honest, how many zaunties are wearing vests and button ups with ties?), acting. theater. performance. He not only does not scold jinx for doodling all over..everything, but actively encourages it. he cherises and shows off her artwork on his desk.

Another silly thing I've noticed is that when Felicia says "I'm knocked up", he shares a look with vander-- many people like to misinterpret it as "is it urs or mine", but I fully believe its more of a "good news or bad?" Because THINK ABOUT IT. A baby. on the edge of war, the undercity littered with enforcer brutality, along with gray and labor in the dark mines. I hate when ppl misinterpret it. YOURE MISSING THE POINTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!

ummm now I think I'm gonna go on an angsty word vomit..

*gulp*

There's this song I only associate with Silco. Soldier Boy by The Shirelles. It's kind of dumb, but I have my reasons.

Growing up, people born in around 935-945, around when Silco was, well, they had to endure a lot of things. Gray mainly, not getting a proper education- any really, having to work in mines from the moment you're deemed strong enough, whether that could be six or ten, witnessing, or god forbid, being on the receiving end of enforcer brutality- it was brutal (no pun intended). It shapes you to be a specific kind of person I would not be able to ever be, since I didn't have to live through those horrible circumstances. I would assume Silco had to work in the mines since he was just a boy, since most kids had to back then.

I'm not sure exactly when, again, LOL timeline is unclear to me, not enough time on wiki yet, but somehow Silco ended up with Felicia and Vander (and Connel?). They decided they had enough of the mistreatment from Piltover, the entitled enforcers and the stuck up councils (see why I don't like heimerdinger?), and they came up with the idea of their own nation. The nation of Zaun (thank you silco for the banger name). They worked for years towards this goal, low whispers echoing through the undercity as more and more people agreed to fight in the planned attack on the bridge.

In the show, they don't make it so in your face clear why Vander tried to drown and kill Silco, and how he got away, so I'll go in to unnecessary detail on that. Felicia, Vander, Silco (and connel??) were the main leaders of the ambush, but especially Vander and Silco. What happened (correct me if I'm wrong god forbid) is that the under city people were storming the enforcers, and Grayson made a deal with Vander-- stop fighting, and we wont kill more people. We'll make a deal. No more gray, etc etc. But Silco didn't believe her-- why would you? After all the shit these enforcers put him through, would you listen to a few promises? Silco threw a cocktail Molotov, specifically aimed at the enforcers, and either the explosion itself caused Felicia to die, or the fact that the enforcers probably shot her after did. (Also, keep in mind how Vi is around 8, and jinx is around...3-4, I'd guess, so Vi remmebers all this, she remembers Silco and how sweet he was, best buddies with Vander, along with Felicia and Connel, while Jinx (slash powder) might have some faint faint memories, I'd doubt she really does, brains block out trauma often.

After Felicia had been killed, Vander, being just around 32 i'd guess, he got blinded with rage for silco. What the fuck? You had been offered a deal to get half of what you want and your best friend just killed your other? Why wouldn't you have been mad? I get both Silco and Vander's sides. But you gotta also remember Silco didn't mean to kill Felicia. Vander loses it, claws Silco's eye out and tries to drown him, and the only way silco can get away is to pretend to drown in the toxic river, having to sink deep enough to pray to Janna he doesn't actually drown.

After escaping, Silco realizes he's lost everything. He's lost Vi and Powder, and Connel (yeah he died too btw), and Vander, and basically everyone other than Sevika, since Sevika took silco's side rather than Vanders. She doesn't want a deal with those nasty, dirty poor excuses of enforcers (get it queen).

And then the rest of the show explains him more. Sorry cutting it short I've been writing this for an hour and I cant think anymore I might continue tomorrow but I have band practice. thank you for the yap session. love u alllll
