So first day out in the buggy. It was very successful. He adjusted quickly, occasionally he called out but he either sat there looking around or just laid chilling out. At one point he was purring, making biscuits.
The buggy is nice, firm, and sits as a basket with a hood and an attachable mesh cover. There’s two clips inside which you attach to the harness’s D ring and there’s several mesh windows. He can sit however he wants and look wherever he wants.
I was going past the fish aisle (not for him he actually dislikes fish greatly, he gagged smelling salmon) and a woman stood still for a moment before she realised the meowing was coming from a buggy and that the baby was just a cat.
Looking at the gourmet food aisle a worker stopped her stocking and kneeled down to say hello to Flash; she was excited to see him and thought he looked cute. I picked out some chicken tins with sauces and spinach and a new one with chicken and cheese to see how he’ll like it.
We found some bowls, catnip spray, dry shampoo, Tushiewipes (for some reason it was the only eco friendly rub on the shelf), puppy pads, poo bags, new toys, snacks, a hoodie and raincoat for cold and/or wet days out. We got the dogs several treats too (no toys, oldest will break her teeth on tough toys and hates squeaky toys), we got them some sausages and chicken treats.
At the checkout the cashier was excited; she said hello to Flash, gave him a couple of treats and pet him. Word had gotten around as another employee quickly walked over and called out “I heard there is a cute cat” and joined in on the fuss.
Flash was enjoying his attention, turning his head so they could scratch his ears. They called him beautiful and mentioned how he’s rather large in size. This is true, he is the third largest out of the litter but weight takes after his mother as he’s built slinky much like her petit frame. If you had put them side by side you’d assume he was the parent and she was the juvenile.
He’s crashed out on his bed, snoozing away. I put the puppy pad under his blanket as he may need some lax tomorrow. Me and one of my sister’s have spoken about taking him out with us. Another friend and I will be looking at making a picnic. I’m planning more trips so he can get used to car journeys and hopefully will be adjusted enough to travel on a short holiday to attend a trip to the beach. He seems to be enjoying these moments out.
If you have a cat, I highly recommend harness training them and maybe using a buggy. The carrier case and cage made flash uncomfortable and anxious whenever he needed to use it. He’s much more relaxed being transported clipped into the car and happy to be in a buggy which is much more open spaced and gives him the option to hide if he needs it. Today he even blurred when I put the harness over his head and clipped it together.
I’m doing this much quicker than I planned. Before the estimate was 5 to 6 years as at the time his health was 100% besides very mild arthritis. Now it is maybe months. However he’s adjusted quickly to the medication and sometimes he even walks. Today he followed me into the shower and waited for me.
I planned to gradually get him used to this stuff over the course of a year not a month. Sadly our time is limited.
Today I had an halloumi burger. It tasted good, baked extra high to ensure it was crispy on the edges. I made toffee iced coffee too. Next week I’m going to make my own Seitan and make a KF”C” rice box. I can’t eat meat or much dairy anymore. Somehow my intolerance from when I was a child came. My dad used to say it’s a Chinese thing and that’s why we had those problems. I’m happy I gave up meat for environmental reasons but I’m still surprised it was the cause of the odd sickness I was having. It was the last thing I thought of that was making me sick.
I have a guitar lesson tomorrow. I don’t want it. I haven’t practiced and I know I’ll be highly useless throughout due to my own negligence.
