I just got done watching it for the first time!! I love it, it was awesome, but I don't know if I'd watch it again just bcuz that first watch is so special and it's quite gory (it's rated R, duh)
So here's my thoughts
THINGS I LIKED: I LOVE THE CREATURE SO MUCH!!!! This is the first thing 2 my memory that I've see with Jacob Elordi in it. He did a good job, I cried a TON. I felt very paternal towards the creature (waaaah). Victor is a fucking incel and watching him get his ass beat is AWESOME!! The visuals were daunting and beautiful, the music was emotional, the characters were really fun (shoutout Elizabeth, love you weird bug girl), and I got 2 see Oscar Issac's full ass LMAO!!!
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE: I don't really care 4 gore :(!! The things that I didn't like are things that are just person preferences. I don't think the gore was unnecessary, and when it's the things around the making of The Creature, that's all good! But theres times where The Creature gets violent as hell (it makes sense in story, again) and I gotta look away bcuz i personally don't care for crazy gore. Also of course, Victor is an abusive asshole, and him being abusive 2wards The Creature made me genuinely upset bcuz I love The Creature like he was my baby. There's also times where the pacing felt a lil weird, but I think thats the only non-personal preference thing :P!!
OVERALL: I am here for this age of gorgeous Gothic inspired movies with things like Nosferatu (which i haven't seen yet) last year, and the Dracula: A Love Tale that comes over here to the states this February! Guillermo Del Toro is an amazing artist and I love what he makes with a burning passion. Any true problem I had was only because I'm lame as hell and don't like gore and men being incels and bad fathers
