freaky film

While we were in thailand i stopped at a little stand in a huge mall that was selling film and something caught my eye. up there hidden on top of the other rolls of film i saw a small red box that said Harman red 125. i did a quick google search and realized it was a redscale film, something I had never even heard of. I bought it immediately and also bought a role of expired kodak gold 200. Apparently, the way that redscale film words is it is just regular film that has been flipped over so the camera shoots through the base layer of the film. This gives the film a very red orange tint which i think looks quite apocalyptic. I was so drawn to this film and I could not wait to finish the roll to check it out. well needless to say the film came out spectacularly and i remember sitting in the foto studio just going through the pics on my phone bc we literally could not wait until we got home.

I went back to belgrade not long after the summer and since I cant fly with film bc of the CT scanners i decided to buy it there. I landed on a roll of delta 100  in b&w and i fell fully in love with it. the man tried to convince me not to get that roll bc it wouldn't show up on my camera but i think he was just quaking in his boots bc he saw how powerful of a photographer I am. The pics were beautiful, crisp, and well lit. its a shame this particular film is so expensive but idec i love it, gf also developed them and she got the HD scanning which i didnt Even know was an option, definitely not gonna skimp anymore if they offer it.

Finally, about the expired film I mentioned in the beginning, i was concerned bc i had never shot on expired film before, but the guy who sold it to me assured me it would still come out, so i took a chance and threw it in my camera. Whats interesting about this film is that I had to take it out of my camera after only shooting a couple pics bc i was flying and had to take my camera empty. I ended up rewinding the film back in the canister, but to take the lip back out of the canister to be abel to use it again later was a whole another story. i ended up licking the end of a roll of negatives I had and jamming it in the canister. Apparently, by doing that it kinda sticks to the film thats stuck inside and with a good yank i managed to pull the feeder back out and use it again.

Here are som example pics of all three rolls of film mentioned in this blog

keep in mind everything was shot on a canon prima zoom XL

This is a foto taken with the redscale film. The way the sky opens up in fire is so amazing this might have been my fave roll ive ever shot and it opened up so much for me in the world of film

This Black and white film was insane. its so crisp and I had alot of fun shooting this

Finally here is one taken with the expired film. I foudn the colors to be insane and the film a bit softer but other than that no real difference.
