For the simplest of reasons. Not a single one of my aunts, uncles, or cousins want to host me for a brief visit. All but one live in cities with Brazilian consulates and getting a taxpayer ID from a physical visit to any of them is the only way for US citizens to legally work for a Brazilian company.
Brazil's economy is better than Argentina, so I could live there off a regular salary like everyone else there. Argentinian pesos are still the same as theme park tokens in terms of value, so every plan I have to make money there involves things that can be sold for USD.
Unlike Brazil, as long as you have basic clearances, you can arrive directly in Argentina as a visitor or entrepreneur. Plus, Buenos Aires is THE safest city in South America. Safer than every major US city and safer than almost anywhere in Brazil.
Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed because Brazil has so much more that I like, but the thing about Argentina is that you can cry and whine that they're evil white racists all you want, but they're the most open to immigrants of any Latin country. Even in spite of this chronic inflation issue, the citizens have more purchasing power than Chileans and Colombians.
