Welcome to Thoughts & Opinions!
My blog series where I talk about things that I feel deeply about which usually doesn't involve real-world-issues, but I guess this time it does. :)
Today's topic: AI generative content

I am an artist. I encourage creativity of any kind. Whether it's music, art, crafting, sewing ect. I want to see what's in people's minds and how they turn it into something beautiful. Essencially, it's human-magic. The ability to express yourself in creation.
And this kind of magic is taken from us by people who think it's fine to shit on the human race.
Not only that, but real humans have been fired from their jobs because AI can apparently do it better, which is completely untrue. Faster, yes maybe, but only because there's no mind behind these machines who takes into consideration the knowledge that is crucially necessary for a project. It can do it, but it will never convey anything aside from greed and apathy.
ChatGPT is making people dumber, because it takes away the process of critical thinking and fantasy. It's used for writing essays so you don't have to retain anything and it's coming up with half-assed stories that are barebone and lifeless. Aside from that, AI is also using up our planets water recources more than other Internet usage, which is just great considering we're already in a few crisises at this point in time...
Speaking of crisises, our loneliness-epidemic is making us feel attached to a program rather than an actual human being apparently?
I'm sorry, but life isn't always on your side. Of course there will be hardships and misunderstandings with other people and of course you won't always be happy with the people around you, but at the very least it's real interaction and not some fabricated yes-man who will take advantage of your loneliness. Stop talking to a chat-bot and actually speak to humans. They often have stories to tell and experiences to share, because here's a secret: we all experience things differently. You'll learn to see perspectives and might even make friends along the way, because you have similar opinions.
The only way to overcome that loneliness and anxiety is to exist with your fellow peers. I also have to learn that still. Be uncomfortable. Be scared. It's okay. I promise there will be someone out there who will give you comfort in one way or another. We are social creatures and we need each other.
Now, I often see people's arguments of "oh I can't draw so AI does it for me". Sincerely; Shut the fuck up.
Do you think people are born with pens in their hands? With the ability to create masterpieces? No! It takes time to become skilled at something you like. It takes time to get the results you want to see. And yes, you might think it's ugly at first and sure, it might demotivate you, but if you don't try you'll never see what it could become. You'll never see the satisfying results of all your hard work and effort. You'll never go back to your old art and cringe, knowing how far you've come.
"You are the only one who can make your art" (I don't remember who said that, but I really like that quote).
You are the only one who can learn to make your visions come true, because nobody else can see what's in your brain besides you! So instead of letting a machine take guesses, maybe make sure that one day, you'll actually be able to portray it exactly how you want it to look.
I've been drawing almost my entire life, ever since I was small. In 2014 I officially let people now I'm an artist. It took me 11 years to draw the way I like, to find my style of art. It took me 9 years just to be happy with my main OC. I kept drawing, because I want to express myself, because I want to inspire others to be creative, because I love what I'm doing and I know others can thrive in their creativity as well. I also don't hate my old art, because even though it doesn't look the way I want to, it shows me how I got to the point where I am at now, and that is a feeling you'll never be able to feel if you only steal from people.
You are also smart enough to write that essay. Smart enough to retain, process and interpret what information you gather to write what you read about in your own words. Smart enough to do basic calculations. All you have to do is to try. If it doesn't work, keep trying. Ask HUMANS for help. Find alternative ways to think. Find a way that works for you. In the end, if you understand your creations, then you can also share and explain it to others.
Convey it. Your way. Not someone else's. You are more than capable of that.
One last thing before I end this:
Please learn how to spot AI generations. I learned its characteristics ever since it became a problem and yet recently I was fooled as well by a dumb cat video... If you don't know what to look for, I'm sure there's videos out there that can teach you what to look out for.
Don't support AI. All it does is stealing.

I beg that you try to use that beautiful mind of yours to express yourself. Don't let a line of code dictate over your creativity. Your brain works faster than any computer or program out there, you have more storage than any hard disk ever could. You have been given the ability to create. So use it. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be. Because that's you.
Thanks for reading, love to you & stay determined. <3

well said! very well said.
always remember... put "-ai" after your online searches to get rid of the AI summary at the top.
