Last summer, I took it upon myself to have my first forey in Linux. With the help of a friend, I successfully switched from Windows to Linux, and I found myself with a lot of power. Linux gives you power to use all of your computer. This path of computer curiosity further continued when I found my mom's "old" laptop. When running Windows 11, the computer was barely running and was basically unusable. I backed up all the data she might need on a USB drive and installed Debian ( a Linux distribution ) on it. I tried it for a bit and wasn't satisfied with using SSH to access the computer, and eventually landed on proxmox ( A Linux distribution focused on Virtualization;). This gave me easy access to my server( which I set up in my closet :/ ).
And so I installed 2 programs:
1. Jellyfin - A media server that lets me host my family's movie collection (NOT PIRATED) on a streaming service that I can access with the smart TV.
2. MCSM - A game server manager mainly for Minecraft, which lets me host my Minecraft servers and probably my friends once I figure out port-forwarding with my confusing router
I think that's been enough yapping so Im just gonna end it here.
