somehow it's starting to piss me off, it's in every for you page i have, like i get it, you think every Christian follows the bible mindlessly, is rude, and will force it on you.
hate to break it but most Christians, separate their political views from religion, separates their personality from the bible, because trust me, most of the verses in the bible or not literal, and most Christians have a relationship with God, which i hope you get what i mean, I'm sorry i jist stumbled upon this tiktok video to be exact

I don't think every Christian actually follows or learns the history, I'm in a Catholic school, with a VE-CL subject, which is Values education - Christian living, and they've only ever taught morality and the likes, thought us how to make decisions based on our sense of self, bible was used as a reference but not followed, we were never taught of the history, it all comes down to your own morality at this point
TLDR: Christianity is not about going to church or following the bible amd taking it literally, it's about faith and morality. op also seemed to be basing Christians from its history rather than an individuals character/personality as if stereotyping Christians, I'm a Christian, alt, AND is leftist, just because I'm Christian doesn’t mean i let my religion affect my political views and my moral, i don't shove my beliefs down peoples throat.
still, I'd love to see opinions about this, honestly I should stop scrolling through tiktok, the alt community there has so much “rules”, most of them wanna gatekeep being alt so much, quotation marks.

THIS!!! Let's not forget how integral catholic churches and clothing are to the goth/alt community as a whole!

I think being anti-religion is a non-nuanced and annoying. When someone denies all religion I just assume they haven't thought about much.

I also find it a bit odd because many alternative subcutures utilise religious (not just christian, mind you) symbols and references in their styles and art, like wearing a rosary as if its something "edgy" when it just really isnt.
unfortunately one of the many reasons I've heard is to disrespect the religion

It would make sense back when religion was the norm in society, and they were trying to be counter-culture, but nowadays even the main religions are minoritary in numbers, at least in the west. The point is no longer a meaningful one, but one of conformity and tradition, which ironically is what they combatted in the times where those symbols were used.

I agree with you, I’m Catholic and I would qualify as alternative because I’m different. It’s as simple as that. How is it alternative if everyone is exactly the same and has to have the same exact belief system you know? XD
