Can we choose how we decorate our rooms without the pressure of "aesthetics"?
I have a pink-and-white room with a bunch of pink decor, but I also love to put some things I love that are a wayy different color. Example, a creeper figure in the corner of my TV, stacks of PS4 game cases on the other corner, and a random sculpture that my friend made of a realistic heart on my desk. And when my mom and sister see it, they would tell me that it doesn't match the "aesthetic" or "it takes up space." I LITERALLY CLEANED MY ROOM AND THEY STILL SAID THAT. My sister even removed those things, which i know she's trying to help, but i wanna express myself in my room, instead of having everything be the same color. So tbh idc about aesthetics. Let people be themselves PLEASEE!

I relate to this. Earlier in the year I fell into the aesthetic trap of wanting my space to be a certain aesthetic and it was just a pain. Every time I wanted to buy something nice, I was debating on if it would "fit in" and ended up buying something I didn't really want because it's the exact color of the room. Now I just don't care. I think there's something poetic of having your space be just a random collection of things you found, love, been gifted, or randomly spawned in. There could be a million people who have that all pink room but no one going to have the same room when it's built on memories and experiences. Your space should be yours and not be restricted to binary rules. For some people that's their thing (which is fine), but as you alluded people confuse it with cleanness and it's a little heartbreaking.
Exactlyyy! We shouldn't feel pressure to buy something that fits to an aesthetic. And its not "messy" to put out things u love that's a different color. There truly isnt a problem with that at all!

I'll be honest, that's a take I agree with.
In the times I've had family friends over or their kids over that happen to go into my room, or my old one (which still hasn't had my stuff & some other things of mine taken down/out of it), they call it "unpleasing" and "bland" and "run of the mill." Like... WHAT?
Why can't I just be me?
I want to just put stuff on my wall. I don't have to express myself nor make my room fitting to the rest of anybody else's wants nor needs. The space posters on the wall? Sure, they decorate a bit, but I don't have to paint my entire room in vibrant colors and then add 30 posters in such a small room just to make it "pop" as one would say and to fit with the vibe of the rest of the house. I can add 3 tokens of my interest, space, and that'll be it.
I personally don't feel the need to paint my room nor decorate it. A bookshelf with all my books, some drawers and a closet, and a desk and a bed is all I need. I can install my own light and a fan.
I get what the Blog Poster is saying. But I'll take it a step further: why do "aesthetics" even need to exist as a concept? They can become confusing, too. Same with "Cores." For example: "emo" and "goth" get confused a lot by people that are unfamiliar, and people that are getting into it. "Weirdcore" and "Dreamcore" are VERY much so similar, to the point they're somewhat indistinguishable. Why the hyperspecificness? "Emo, goth, weirdcore, dreamcore" I hope it just all comes together at some point and people realize there is no need for something specific to have a specific name for it.
(No offense to people who like aesthetic/core stuff. Just ranting.)
You said it clearly and even further, which is what i like about ur comment. Why do we have to specify every little detail as "core" or "Aesthetic"? it just gets overwhelming :/
