Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well! As I mentioned, some cell phone numbers get recycled or something like that. I already knew this because my older sister told me that when she changed her number, someone kept calling her because that number belonged to someone who owed them money.
I also changed my phone number last year. I created a WhatsApp group with that number, but I left the group after a while. My dad decided to change my phone number since calls weren't going through. Out of curiosity to see if what my sister said was true, I left the number in my chats. I waited until now, and I noticed that the profile picture for the number I deleted was different. I also had my Facebook account registered with that number because I couldn't delete it. And just today I realized that someone tried to create an account with the old number, so I think they do recycle a lot of unused numbers!

That's crazy!
I never knew that was a thing. o.o"
Yep!! But honestly, I don't know if it only happens in my country and at the company that manages the numbers, or if it's something that happens everywhere!! (°

I really hope that doesn't happen in my country, because I'm looking to change my phone number soon!

I really hope not!! I think it depends a lot on the phone company! But I just looked it up and it's pretty common to find recycled numbers since a lot of people change their numbers often, so we've probably all had one or still have one!! I don't know much about this, but I just looked it up!! I think it's better to do a more detailed search! :0

Well, according to that, all phone companies recycle numbers. The problem is how they recycle them, since they don't do it in the best way i think! Although, before canceling a number, it's best to unlink everything when changing numbers! That is, make sure the number you're going to stop using is unlinked from banks, social media accounts, and so on! It's about checking everything in general so that what happened to me doesn't happen again! Because if the person had tried to log into Facebook instead of registering, they could have taken my account! D:
I've been reading a bit, so I hope I'm not spreading misinformation! (ó﹏ò。)

This is very helpful, thank you! :3
I'll be sure to do more research on the matter as well.
It's a good thing that they didn't try to log in, the result would not have been good. T^T"
It's okay! It doesn't seem to be misinformation. c:
