Why do teachers use AI so much??

For context, I'm in high school and I've been absent since yesterday and now today because I'm really sick. So, I go into google classroom to check for the assignments I need to do, right? Tell me why I open an assignment for my English HONORS class and it says "by ChatGPT and Mr. D" 

I was just so confused, why would my teacher need to use AI to make a worksheet...? AI also isn't always accurate so I didn't know why he would do that. Plus, he could have very easily looked up the topic and found a good, reliable article. He is teaching an HONORS class by the way, and this could possibly encourage people in my class to use AI more (if we lack critical thinking skills and rely on a robot, it's not really an honors class anymore, is it?)

My biology teacher has also used AI for some of the easiest things ever. (ALSO AN HONORS CLASS BY THE WAY.) She literally asked ChatGPT how mitosis works, when she could have just GOOGLED it and found an article that explains it simply. It is NOT that hard. 

So, my question is why it seems acceptable for teachers to use AI to generate worksheets, quizzes, tests, etc., but it's not acceptable for students to use AI for assignments? I'm not saying either are good, I think both are bad and should be punished. But it doesn't make sense to me. Double standards between students and teachers are just insane, because why can a teacher be on their phone all day and not do anything but if I do that, I'm the bad guy and I'll get detention. 

I don't know, it just seems odd to me and I wanted to rant about it. AI shouldn't be used in any aspect of school, so why do teachers do it? It's seriously getting to be annoying, and I feel like none of my classmates nor teachers have common sense.
