We live in Hell?

I really feel like the world is doomed... We've already seen civilizations disappear, so why not the entire universe while we're at it? Humans are supposed to be "intelligent" beings, but I get the feeling we've simply stopped evolving... Some say we all died in 2020 and now it's hell...

Where were we happier back then, because we didn't have access to so much information from the outside world? Which means... Were we happier because we were ignorant? Is reality really hell on Earth?
