it's been raining harder than usual lately,
and with the typhoons and earthquakes sweeping
through my country, the destruction is everywhere.
people are still trying to recover from the damage left
by the earthquakes, yet we are forced to face another calamity,
with little to no help from the government to provide the
support our communities need.
i saw a video of a little boy crying to his mother for the home
they once knew, and she comforted him, telling him they could
always have a new home as long as they were safe, seeking
refuge above their roof.
another video showed a father
breaking through his ceiling to carry his children above,
as they watched the water rush through their home,
filling every nook and corner.
people are losing their childhood homes, their entire
lives erased in an instant, leaving behind only memories
and rubble.
stray animals wander through flooded streets,
soaked and terrified, searching desperately for shelter.
and newborn animals, too fragile to survive on their own, are
losing their lives before they’ve even had a chance to begin.
entire communities struggle to stay afloat, abandoned to rising
waters and crumbling homes, all because those in power FAILED
to protect them, blinded by their own greed. the impact of it
all can be seen everywhere, and it’s hard not to notice.
we are tired!!!
