A standard language (or standard variety, standard dialect, standardized dialect or simply standard) is any language variaty that has undergone substantial codification in its grammar, lexicon, writing system, or other features and that stands out among related varieties in a community as the one with the highest status or prestige. Often, it is the prestige language variety of a whole country.
Based on what i tried, talked to people (incl. my family) when i talk with Indonesian standard language, they literally get annoyed and refuse to talk to me for a while. I thought with using standard language, the conversation would make the communaction way better because the words are more clear and understandable. But as they said, its weird, alright,

kind of interesting, mayhaps the group of people you were talking to do not speak that standard language.
