i love his design and how tragic his character is. he's also got some cool powers... also chain weapons are insanely cool to me, aesthetically they go hard, in motion they go harder, and they are quite fun to use in games.

a lot of Kurapika fan art i see is absolute masterpieces that have this profound feel to them. they are intricate, beautiful illustrations that focus on composition and depicting strong emotions through color and facial expression, showcasing key elements of his such as his scarlet eyes (who wouldn't), his chains and of course, the spider. at least from the vague memories that i have... i don't have specific examples in mind.

i also love that his quest for revenge isn't necessarily depicted as "bad" in the story. sure, there might be at least one character that has their opinions and concerns for him (like his nen teacher), and he may be reckless with how he uses his powers with little regard for his life.. and have no other life goals planned at first, BUT! what i mean is, his friends actually SUPPORT him, and want to do everything they can to help him with it :D which is partly due to Gon being non judgemental by nature. Which is something i absolutely adore about this lil guy, but i digress (i need any opportunity to talk about him). point is, there is no "if you do the same to them you're no better than them!!!" or "if you take your revenge, you become the same as them" kind of talk, which i don't agree with.

another part of him that is very dear to me is actually his softer side. he can be silly. he's actually a nerd and is quite sassy with Leorio (which i am very normal about). it warms my heart whenever he smiles fondly around his friends and how he cares for them (even though he's so hard to reach smh). however i think he is STUPID because of the recklessness i mentioned earlier. see, Pika has a very special power called Emperor Time, which is super powerful for reasons that i too lazy to mention even though it takes two seconds to do so, and so. in exchange of that broken power, HIS LIFE EXPECTANCY IS REDUCED BY EVERY USE. there are so many signs of death surrounding him, please be ok and live a long life you stupid baka, i hate you so much (i love him)

anyway uh, back to the drawing. i drew the leftmost Pika's face this way, because i wanted it to look like the author's style a bit. i studied it briefly a long time ago, and frankly i was just drawing from memory here. his outfit looks a tad different because of that

also, random fun facts, the only cosplay that i own is this guy, and am learning a song on the piano (very slowly) that is kinda associated with him. it's called Panorama, and it plays in the 1999 version of the anime when he enters the Nostrade family's mansion (i forgot which episode in particular and i only watched the 2011 version. frankly i forgot how i even found this song)
