Music Ramblings

I'm literally going to rant until my fingers bleed. Buckle up.

Songs

"Angels of the Silences" by Counting Crows is my favourite song of all time, no joke. I found it on a CD called "Class of '97" and ever since then it has twisted me, baptized me, changed me, swallowed me whole, and made me new again.

"Long Day" by Matchbox 20 is probably my 2nd favourite song ever. The little shaky breath by Rob Thomas at the start might kill me every time. He sounds like he's sobbing before he breaks into song. I also found it on the "Class of '97" CD which I got for 2 bucks at a little record store.

Recently I heard "Untitled" by Pearl Jam and for all those who don't know, Untitled is a beautiful song about getting out of this town. It's acoustic, it's nostalgic, it's perfect, it's beautiful.

"Come Original" by 311 brings me so much happiness I always end up dancing to it like a disturbed suburban mom. The music video is so Mountain Dew combined with skater boy. What the fuck does that mean? Well watch the MV, you'll see what I mean.

I've memorized all the lyrics of "Dance of the Clairvoyants" by Pearl Jam and I got to say, it's one of their most underrated songs to ever hit an album.

"Obsolete" by Fear Factory gets so much hate and I can't fathom why. It's a decent song with decent singing, even with the poor drums.

"Sterile Nails and Thunderbowels" by Silencer might just be the worst song I've ever heard. Going into it, you think, "Oh wow the guitar is okay..." and then IT hits. I can't even put it into words, but the screaming you're met with at the beginning is enough to dig your own grave for you. It's so painfully high-pitched and reminiscent of a weird disabled elf. And yet I listen to it a lot more than I should. Also... go to 3:15 in and tell me what that means. Tell me. Try to understand it.

Concerts

I've seen 311 live 3 different times. One front row show and I'm proud to say that I robot danced with the rapper and we had a good time. It was pure energy and fun and I was so sore after all the headbanging, dancing, singing, and good vibes. I'd so recommend seeing them.

Powerwolf and DragonForce are some of the best entertaining bands to ever hit the stage. I saw them on tour with each other and I was so entertained by how insanely fucking wicked the DragonForce stage was I almost cried. Powerwolf was so hysterically funny, we died giggling as Attila commanded us in weird German phrases.

I love Switchfoot but I had a really bad experience at one of their concerts. They're a great band, very entertaining, but I wouldn't see them again. :(

Soul. Fucking. Asylum. was one of the most memorable concerts of my life. I saw them with about 30 people in a parking lot and my ass was dead front. Their singer, Dave, gave me a guitar pick and their guitarists kept flipping out their picks to the kids near me. Sponge opened for them and of course they were great, we chatted with Kyle (the bass player) and he was such a sweet guy.

If you're ever thinking about going to the New Orleans Heritage and Jazz Festival, do it. Do it. Do it so bad. It's not jazz music, in fact, we saw Pearl Jam there. It's a community. It feels like Heaven to be there, making all sorts of friends while listening to great music. Being there was the single greatest experience of my lifetime and I would gladly do it again. And again. And again. And again until I'm dead.

Alright, I think I'm good now. :p
