Buffy the vampire slayer spoliers you have been warned-
I have been rewatching buffy for the millionth time. I started watching it when I was around 7 and I was immediately obsessed. I even dressed as buffy for my year 3 halloween disco. Everytime i watch it again as I age, my opinions on characters change. As I have matured I have hated Xander more and more but my original two favourites Angel and spike swap places as my current favourite. Angel was my favourite the first time I watched it, I sobbed in my mothers arms the episode he died. I'm at the part where he returns to being Angelus and I have realised that he is by far the most evil villain she had to face. Obviously there is the whole betrayal of trust angel that is easy to argue but what really makes him evil is just how much success he had in meddling with her life. Other villains try before and after and none manage to reek as much suffering on her as him. It is also eerie as an ex-boyfriend stalking and hurting those around you is unfortunately quite a common occurrence in the real world. I like how the show has the obvious life lessons as well as some subtle ones and even with the evil director, there is still such an element of acceptance and growth present in the show. I wish it could have retained its whimsy past season 3 or 4 though.
I had a more poetic point to make but it hasn't been written as artfully as I meant it.
