hello, this is a part 2 of rating addison rae's discography (check out part 1 here!) and this time, it will solely be about her debut album, Addison.
released on June 6, 2025, Addison is the debut album that everyone was waiting for and the album where people will decide if addison rae might be the next big pop star. this album is quite short with a runtime of 33 minutes but within those 33 minutes, addison crafted a dreamy world where despite her worries in life, she made sure that it won't let her affect her carefree personality.
fun fact: only three people worked on in this album and they were all women which is rare as the music industry is dominated by male producers! it was Addison Rae and producers, ELVIRA and Luka Kloser. i think that having an all-women team definitely contributed to the sound of the album and the topics addison sings about.
#1. New York - i loooove this song! it reminds me of von dutch remix a little bit but it's also different from that. i think this is a perfect opener because it starts off slow but once the beat drops, you're like "ooh what is this melodyy!!!" and you're hooked. now you want to listen to more addison rae and see what else she has to offer. i think my favourite line is, "next stop, to the club, i'm a dance whore" because i truly relate to that as someone who just wants to go clubbing solely to dance my ass off! rating: 4/5
#2. Diet Pepsi - the first time i heard this song, i remember thinking, "this is addison rae??? wtf?? why is it so good??" diet pepsi was the first single to be released for this album and this song is my shit. there are elements in this song, like how the chords sound, that reminds me of lana del rey. it has such a catchy chorus that gets stuck in your head and the way she sings it is just so dreamy. for the music video, i think people were taking her seriously here because i feel like you wouldn't do the shit she was doing in the video if your heart isn't in it. like do you guys get me? no but seriously, i love this song like it's hot and it's sexy. rating: 4/5. mv gets 2.5/5 - it's camp but it made me uncomfortable 🥴
#3. Money Is Everything - addison asks a very important question here, "CAN'T A GIRL HAVE FUN?" ugh this song, despite the fact that it's short, is still such a fun listen. it's repetitive but super catchy and i love the one verse where she mentions madonna, lana del rey, and lady gaga because it feels like she's acknowledging the women that inspired her. but my favourite line has to be, "And the girl I used to be is still the girl inside of me." it just hits so hard especially with the knowledge that people always question if addison is authentic and with this line, it feels like she's saying that, "yes i am still the same girl that was dancing on tiktok but the addison you're seeing now has been inside that girl this whole time." rating: 3.75/5
#4. Aquamarine - this is the second single from the album. i liked this way more than diet pepsi and i literally listened to it on repeat so many times. so i wouldn't be shocked if this ends up in my top 5 songs for this year. but yes, this song feels like the little sparkles you see when the sun hits the ocean but also what a midnight swim would feel like. i am just amazed on how they were able to capture the water feel in this song! i think the little melody that you hear at the start + addison's soft vocals really contribute to that feeling. though, the real highlight is definitely the bridge part where she sings "give me more" because it is so hypnotising whether you listen to it or watch the music video. the choreo in the mv was *chef's kiss* it's just... Hypnotising!! the mv did give me a little bit of Eyes Wide Shut feel with the mask but other than that, addison is back at it again with chaotic dancing. rating: 4.5/5. mv is 4/5 - i think it's the chaotic dancing.
#5. Lost and Found - i think this is an interlude as it is only 48 seconds long so i won't be rating this. it is a cool transition from aquamarine to high fashion though.
#6. High Fashion - this is the third single from the album and this might be my least liked single? i don't know what it is about the song that i don't like. maybe it was just a bit too lowkey for me like her vocals and the beat is just... yeah. though i admit that the chorus is catchy and i found myself singing along to it. also the line, "i'd rather feel the sun kiss on my skin with a cigarette pressed between my tits" is such an interesting imagery and i can't figure out how she's doing that. as for the mv, it might've been too on the nose with all the white powder but it was beautifully shot and pairs with the song really well. rating: 3.70/5. mv is a 4/5 - i can't deny that it's beautiful.
#7. Summer Forever - this song is sooo lana del rey-esque and it's such a nice song to listen to. my favourite part of this song is the pre-chorus because it feels like it's the small things that makes loving someone memorable. but other than that, it's just an easy song to listen to. it sounds like something you would blast in the car when you're doing a midnight drive. rating: 3.60/5
#8. In The Rain - the other songs so far have been mostly about how addison is confident about who she is. so, this song is surprisingly introspective as she sings how and why she's only crying in the rain. some of the lines in the song is an indirect way of addressing the people who questions her authenticity; "Misunderstood, but I'm not gonna sweat it," "Maybe it's fake, but I don't care," and "You don't deserve my heart and guess what? I don't owe it to you." the instrumental feels like a throwback but i can't quite put my finger on it and the chorus and the ending are so catchy. rating: 4.30/5
#9. Fame is a Gun - this is the fifth single in the album and oh my god this song immediately got stuck in my head. the filtered vocals + the starting line, "tell me who i am, do i provoke you with my tone of innocence?" is such a gnarly way to start this song and it makes you think like, yeah who is addison rae?? i also love the line, "fame is a gun and i point it blind" like it feels a bit threatening to me but she's fully owning it and she's fully owning the fact that people dislike her but who gets the last laugh? she does because she's in this glamorous life she's singing about while these people are hating on her from her dad's basement! the mv to me looks like there are two sides of addison rae - the innocent girl who just want to have fun with her girl friends and the crazy bitch that wants all the fame. there's definitely a storyline there but in the end, i think those two sides merged because essentially, addison rae just wants the fame! rating: 4.2/5. i really liked the mv 4.5/5
#10. Times Like These - this is the sixth and the last single released on the same day as album. this is also as introspective as in the rain and i really felt it when sang, "i'm so confused...😔" but in this song, she sings about she feels like she's losing control of her life but maybe this is how it has to be. like she necessarily can't control whatever's happening so she just has to accept it. for instance, in the first verse, she tries to appeal to a certain someone but then if he still doesn't like her then it is what it is. i honestly thought i was tripping when i heard the second verse though because she was whispering and i literally almost couldn't hear her. but in there, she sings, "am i too old to blame my dad?" which is honestly such a valid question. sometimes, there are situations that have happened so long ago and it feels like i should've moved on from it but i can't help but blame those situations for fucking me over. and that specific line just feels like that. the mv isn't as good as the others not gonna lie but i still love the choreo and i love how it is mostly her having fun and dancing with the girls. rating: 3.95/5. mv is 2/5 - sorry just wasn't giving as the others.
#11. Life's No Fun Through Clear Waters - title length is giving emo songs a bit but this is actually another interlude so no rating.
#12. Headphones On - this is the fourth single from the album and you guys... this song made me emotional... :( like i've listened to this song before and i really relate to the whole premise that: #1. i gotta accept the pain, #2. need a ciggy to make me feel better, #3. i just need to put my headphones on. but i didn't expect her to sing, "wished my dad and mom could've been in love" like what... </3 but similar to times like these, addison rae is just going "it is what it is" and is coping away through music and dancing. also for a bit of context, it turns out her dad has been cheating on her mom and that's why they got a divorce which is traumatising by itself already. but this coming out when you're already in the limelight and you see your mom is apparently dating yung gravy... like what even is addison's life bruh. but yeah this song is good and it really feels like i just have to put my headphones on. ALSO! music video was cool too, i think the pink wig was really mesmerising and just the nature of where they were filming feels magical. rating: 4.3/5. mv is like a good 4/5.
