Not that being a kpop fan is bad or anything, but these fandoms are getting out of hand. Years and Years of idols potentially being treated horrifically by their entertainment and/or staff, but their fans have it out for them too?
Individual idols, full groups, soloists...it's not anything new when you see hate on them. And then it becomes a crime when you defend them, especially if you defend them when they are an innocent soul. People who do not listen to certain groups, hate those idols. WHY? Because their music gives no interest to them, their looks don't appeal and, they just aren't that good to them. Every time I go on TikTok it's the same thing. Even videos feeding into the hate, creating posts where fans can just make fun of everyone in the music industry (except their faves of course).
Idols have obvious access to everything, and these hateful comments could hurt their feelings, but does it matter? They're grown adults anyway, so who cares? The fact is though that there are a LOT of minors that work in this industry, which leads me to the different kind of weirdness in the kpop industry. Fat shaming idols isn't even okay either. People have stuck to these standards for who knows how many years that the moment an idol has a bit of a tummy, they are on the peak of obesity.
I know a lot mvs, dances, concept photos, looks, etc. do imply a certain element of 'sexiness' and whatever toots your boots, but not all of them do. And not every idol could be comfortable with fans being weird to their so-called idols. Since when was filming idols while they were changing something funny and humane? Take CORTIS for example. Adult women were filming a group of minors changing. That is seriously not funny. Blaming companies for hiring minors is reasonable, yes, but we can also blame those women thinking it was okay for them to do that. Then moving on to weird fan meetings/fan calls... Why are you asking idols to be your pet, call you 'Noona', play weird games... that's seriously not on. You can tell their uncomfortable, but this is all just to benefit you anyway. And in general, why is stalking big in the industry. I know even Korean actors, and celebrities across the world go through these paparazzi and serious stalkers but why is it kind of excused most of the time, or just searching for the families/homes of these idols? E.g Chan from Stray Kids, I'm pretty sure on TikTok there was this fan, famous for always landing fan calls with Chan found out where he lived? Apparently, it's just rumours, but this probably isn't the first case of this happening... why is it even happening?...
But fans aren't the only ones, even the idols themselves are a bit...weird. The burning sun scandal...what Taeil did. Even the breast cancer awareness event... like come on guys. Almost no one even showed up in pink, which apparently isn't that bad ig, idk. And then it turned into an almost club experience. Only a few people did speeches or, so I've been told. I mean it did become a Jackson Wang party (and probably had alcohol there). Maybe that's okay to most people, I don't know, I'm probably not trustworthy gaining information from Tiktok....
But uhh this is just what I wanted to say, knowing this industry theres probably more bad things, like.. cough cough.. driving an idol to leave a group because he had a girlfriend... If I sound stupid let's keep it to ourselves.
P.S Ik all these things happen in different industries, common knowledge actually, this is just about kpop
