α΄›Κœα΄‡ 𝓫𝓲𝓢𝓫𝓸! 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘀𝘡

For a quick introduction to this whole topic, I'm a humanities student pursuing diplomacy in the future. I'm consistently rank 1 in my strand and within the top 5% of my batch, and yet when people see me, they immediately assume that I'm dumb. Why? Because of "the bimbo effect".

This whole phenomenon started with Elle Wood's character, where cutesy pink girl meets "intellectuals" who base off of her appearance and assume that she's dumb, when in reality she is much smarter than most of her peers.Β

While this is widely observed nowadays, I don't think people actually see the consequences of this event. I like everything pastel, I do my makeup every day, and because of that I usually have to do more than others to lose the stereotypes attached to my person. Not just in studies, but also in social events.Β

Liking things outside of your assigned archetype is met with either flat out denial or suspicion. Sure F1 and the likes are given, but it is also observed in other communities like horror enthusiasts, metalheads, even y2k and techy communities have these problems.Β

Please keep in mind that I'm not doing this to discriminate or belittle others, it's just an observation. Not to mention that this is slowly becoming less common in online communities. Thankfully there is a development in sharing cultures and now this bimbo effect is slowly disappearing.Β

No matter. The point of this whole thing is to say that judging people off of their mannerisms is ridiculous. Intelligence has no look, certain traits are not specific to one aesthetic group. If this is true then we're just going back to eugenics and Aryan ideology that quite literally divided the world.Β

That's about it, thx for reading!! :33
