The Mould Incident

Hello spaceheyers,

A bit of a tragic one today, and just when I thought I was done with my exams and everything was submitted, too. Let me set the scene for you all:

No, but seriously imagine it.

The day before your VISUAL ARTS MAJOR WORK is to be marked, (yeah, the one you've worked on for the whole year that's worth 50% of your grade,) your teacher rings you to say that while in storage your work has been destroyed by an infestation of mould :D haha, wouldn't that suck!?

In fact, here is a picture of what that could quite possibly look like~

HAHAHA. AND THAT'S JUST ONE OF MY SIX A2 SIZE PANELS! IMAGINE SIX TIMES THAT!

So yeah, um. There goes my hopes of getting into a gallery XD

I had to have a call with my principal and teachers to discuss misadventure paperwork and blah blah blah. But, on the upside, the guy who originally printed my works for me felt so bad for me (and aaawww that my work was the most standout and dedicated he saw aauughHHHH AND NOW ITS GONE AND DEAD, ALL THAT DEDICATION FOR WHATHTHTHTHTH</3) that he's doing a rush job to print me some smaller copies to show the markers something like my original intent :") Ofc, the copies will be on a different paper, meaning the colour cast and texture will be different, and the mounting colour will be white instead of black due to costs and the rush etc. So, a lot of my original artistic intent and choices are lost.

But, I'm so grateful that he could do that for me, that shop is gonna have my loyal business FOREVER!!

haha, I remember going there everyday when originally printing them to discuss the saturation and stuff bc i was so adamant abt having them perfect. Am I neurotic or am I just an artist who cares abt the presentation of his work XD to hell with my time and thought ig

Anyways, thanks to him and my teachers, all hope is not lost :")

I'm happy that they appreciated my work whilst it lived and it left enough of an impact on them that they felt sad for me and rushed to help out. I wanted to be in a large gallery so that more people could see it in all its scale and true colour and maybe they could resonate with it too. But, I suppose that even if just those who saw it for the short period it was complete felt it left a mark, that means my art did achieve what what artwork strives to do, and as an artist what more can you ask for haha

Our class collectively prayed for our grades (since in this exam the cohort's individual grades are all derived from our ranks in relation to our combined score) so I really hope its ok for everyone :"D

yours disappointed and stressed,
