Can we truly go mainstream?

If you've gone through any of my past blogs, you'll see how passionate i truly am about this site (trust me! ill post about other things soon too XD) so i want raise a question and discuss this with other people who equally enjoy this site as much as i do

So to everybody lurking.... Can spacehey truly become mainstream? I know it can be a big topic of discussion, but i want to hear everyones thoughts.

Personally, I feel like going mainstream could really be a good thing. I want to see everybody connected again from a digital world that really makes me feel separated from the people around me. I love going on peoples blogs and seeing their personality just by the type of layout code they have or what they blog about, and I'd love to meet new people all around the world or even new and close to me too. MySpace was the first site that truly created internet celebrities/personalities. Owl City, Smosh, Black veil Brides, Never Shout Never, Tila Tequila, Ed Sheeran, etc... They all came from MySpace, and with a site that big so connected to one singular person (Tom Anderson, or in THIS case.. An). MySpace was so big that record labels would reach out to artists solely based off of their profile. I like spacehey and i want it to have that type of success and opportunity and connection and not just sit in the shadow of MySpace (even IF this is a dupe site)

But while i may hope for the best and to see people using it on the daily like i do, I also understand the negatives too. I understand how some people are upset over the lack of photo sharing, or IM's, or the general idea of not having anything to do. Ive also seen the spam and predators and all tons of horrible people too. There really isnt any site that can be free of these people, the hard truth is that theyll always be here whether in silence or announcing it for the whole world and i know it sucks and i hate it too :( However, please dont let that scare you or others away. I agree that Spacehey is deserving of better features, but you, the community, should also be the one to help fix it. DOnate to the cause. And i know that this is technically a "retro 2000s myspace dupe" but this isnt the old internet. People are smarter on technology than 20 years ago, While there are so many negatives on here, dont forget that it was like that years ago too, and you are responsible for your safety and curating your experience. Make this a better world, and a better site.

Sorry if i sounded a bit mean or off LOL i did type this all on a whim, but share your thoughts! id LOVE to discuss this with people. Stay Safe and SURF THE WEB XD!

Knowing how the internet is nowadays, I doubt it will become mainstream, but we could bring the right people to this site.

I feel like it would be really, really awesome if SpaceHey went mainstream, at least for a while - eventually more and more negativity would present itself, I believe, as a lot of kids (nothing against kids; it's just that they bully each other a lot T^T"), trolls, and predators would join.

Other than that, it would be awesome; people would be able to express their personalities and have the internet be a choice, rather than an obligation. :3

Oh 100% i totally agree! Every positive on the internet comes with a negative and its no joke, but there DOES come a point where those types of people will join regardless (not that its good or im endorsing it i hate it too!!) and when that happens all we can do is protect ourselves with basic internet safety skills, and better moderation. It was a problem back in MySpace years ago, theres no doubt it can become a problem here too but this time around we know what measures to take to prevent it <3

interesting points you’ve made. i think that while it could be a good thing for spacehey to become mainstream, i doubt it’ll happen. i believe society as a whole prefers “instantaneous” social media rather than blogs and a non-filtered algorithm. sure, it’s nice and we have more style here, but i doubt we can become mainstream. we could have a momentary hype like what happened last year or so.

oh i totally agree! a lot of social medias nowadays rely onto short-form content , computers arent the same as they were running sites 15 years ago, and especially worse with smartphones. I do think the hypothetical for SpaceHey to rise in popularity and become mainstream again is fun though!

it is! if such a thing happened, i’d love even more to see the blogs -- so many interesting things would be there; not to forget what you mentioned about people getting really famous from their art here, and how many more cool profiles we’d have. and let’s not forget about the forums getting more active lololol
