Just for the fun of it, and out of inspiration for StarvHarv's Badly Translated History and HiroTheJapaneseTrain's badly translated The Railway Series stories, I had the idea to severely badly-translate Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Volume #1).
All I did was to run a passage (in full, plain text form) through Google Translate using numerous little-known languages like Welsh, Scots Gaelic, Breton, Latin, Faroese, Georgian, and Abkhaz. I then sometimes do the process again and again on the same passage until I could find a satisfactory output. Here are the first 5 pages to get a good idea of what I'm doing. I'll put the rest up in a dedicated page on my Web site. I've been working on it on-and-off for a month now.
Now, should I continue modifying the illustrations to work around the bad translations, or should I start over and preserve the original illustrations?
