Hey everybody, welcome to my blog!
I have decided to use this blog as a sort of diary for life updates and anecdotes that happen to me. So feel free to comment and chat!
I'm currently in my 7th semester of studying primary education and the time has come for me to do my semester-long internship at primary school. I dreaded this moment for a LONG time. Since I'm a trans guy I didn't want to do this internship for a looong time. I was scared of ridicule. I didn't know what to do. Luckily everything sort of fell into place. I started testosterone 9 months ago and -god bless- I completely pass. So I had no problems at school concerning that.
But- and here comes the catch- since I pass and I don't spend 80% of my brainpower trying to regulate my voice and body language to make myself sound the most dudebro-esque, I can come off as rather flamboyant.
And as things had to come, on the fourth day while I supervised a couple of students, a 9-year old girl turned to me to ask "Mr.X do you like men?"
To say I was flabberghasted and sort of frozen at this question was an understatement. But I sort of cought myself shortly after. "Uhm, do you mean like me liking other men?" She nods. I swallow.
"Well, yes I suppose, I have a boyfriend."
"SO YOU'RE GAY?"
"Well.. you could describe it like that (I'm bi).
The whole class sits there, clearly shocked to hear my revelation, one of those kids said "ew" but mostly it was just something new to them I suppose. This girl of course, then went around the whole yard at recess and told everybody that I was- in fact- gay!
Since that happened the same girl and her classmate started asking really personal questions. And this, dear fellows is the point where you should draw a strict line. Sure, you can be all chummy with your students, but they should clearly know your boundaries.
So my darlings, this is the story of how I got clocked by a 9-year old. I'm off to work.
Toodles!
